brummie46 Report 17 Dec 2014 10:50

Previously posted October 2011. but have further information.

I have found paperwork that they were living at 9 Blythesford Road Hall Green Birmingham in 1960s and possibly be still there when their adoptive father died in 1964.
Taking another chance her that someone might have known them from that area/school days etc.,
I dont have their actual date of births but would guess at looking at a photo they would be in their late 50s or in early 60s now.
thank you for you time

Gritty Report 18 Dec 2014 06:36

Hi brummie46- there's no 'e' in Blythsford Road.
Just for reference:

1945- 1952 John Edwin Vernon Cook and Christine Mary Cook lived in Perry Barr at 332 Old Walsall Road.

Electoral Register:
9 Blythsford Road, Hall Green.

1955
John E. V. Cook
Christine Cook
Kathleen Ward

1960
John E. V. Cook
Christine M. Cook

1962
John E. V. Cook
Christine M. Cook

1965
Christine M. Cook

Birmingham Central Library has Electoral Registers after this date which may give you an idea as to how long they lived there.

Parent's marriage:
Name(s) JOHN E V COOK
Marriage quarter 3
Marriage year 1937
JOHN E V COOK married CHRISTINE M LANSLEY
Spouse's last name LANSLEY
District SMETHWICK
County Worcestershire

John's death:
Name(s) JOHN E V COOK
Gender Male
Birth year 1913
Age 51
Death quarter 3
Death year 1964
District BIRMINGHAM
County Warwickshire

Have you tried tracing descendants of Christine's family to see if they have any other information on thees people?

Although I don't see an obvious birth for Christine, in 1935 a Christine Mary Lansley is on the Electoral Register:

1935
18 Twyning Road
William Henry Lansley
Jessie Maria Lansley
Christine Mary Lansley
Jessie Irene Lansley.
--------------------------------------

This is the family in 1911:

Civil Parish: Kings Norton
County/Island: Worcestershire
Street address: 21 Oxford St, Stirchley, B'Ham
Registration district: Kings Norton
Registration District Number: 383
Sub-registration district: Kings Norton
ED, institution, or vessel: 19
Household schedule number: 269
Piece: 17842

William Lansley 28 Kentish Town, London
Jessie Lansley 29 Kentish Town, London
Victor Lansley 6
Ernest Lansley 4
Irene Lansley 3
Nancy Lansley 2
Marjorie Lansley 1
Dorothy Buggins 16
-----------------------------------------

So these might be possible siblings of Christine that might be worth following up:

Victor William Lansley b1905 Kings Norton
Ernest James Lansley b1906 Kings Norton
Jessie Irene Lansley b1907 Kings Norton
Nancy Hilda Lansley b1908 Kings Norton
Marjorie Lansley b1910 Kings Norton

If you think tracing descendants of these people might help in your search, and would like help doing so, please let me know.

Hi Gritty, sorry for the delay in getting to back.
Totally shocked as to what you have found. Would be more interested in the marriage and death of Christine (Holden) especially the address for i actually know it. Would be greatly appreciated if you could do a check on the man himself Holden.
So the Lansley family must have moved from London to Birmingham and would also be appreciated to what you can find on the siblings.
Im on and off here and trying to do a million other things due to my husbands illness but will log back on asap.
thanks a million.

I had to work this afternoon so haven't had much time to look. Arthur Holden is going to be hard to trace as there's quite a few,

I've pm'd a small piece of info- but will try and have a better look tomorrow if I get time.

Gritty Report 19 Dec 2014 11:14

Christine's younger sister, Elsie, had several children who may be able to confirm if you have the correct family- I've pm'd details. Please check your messages.

brummie46 Report 28 Dec 2014 18:24

Found what happened to Pauline and Stephen with many thanks to Gritty.
I know a few helpers on here do their best in helping others out but a few seem to reply in a negative manner to which i will always say to people adding a thread keep on trying and you will find them. This is the second time i have posted a thread in trying to find people and its worked out for me. So dont give up your search

brummie46 re your comment about 'negative' members

I looked at the thread Rambling Rose linked to

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/living_relatives/thread/1282254

you have obviously deleted quite a few of your own messages so it is now not possible to follow the discussion clearly

but quite obviously you had not given accurate information in your posts and more than one person had totally wasted their time hunting for things to match the information you gave

I think you might better be advising other members to give complete and accurate information (within the limits of privacy) than chiding members who try to help and are stymied by misinformation

brummie46 Report 18 Jul 2015 20:58

JoonieCloonie, all I meant by my last post was the outcome was good news.
I had already taken on board from Rambling Rose and this was quite some time back.
All I meant to say was never give up even if it means nudging for the outcome for myself on two difference searches paid off.
