Find Living Relatives

My cousin, born in West Sussex, was initially fostered as a little boy by a Mrs Gilpin/Gelpin and then adopted c.1950, possibly privately, by her daughter & son-in-law, in the Newhaven area (this is what I have been told). His current surname, if changed, is unknown.
About 10yrs ago he wrote unsuccessfully to a family member. The letter is long gone, though possibly he was then living in Kent..
I would very much like to hear from him if he, or anyone who may know him, sees this. He has other close family members to meet too. Thank you.

He has several siblings born from 1937

There are four people besides yourself with Christopher Shoppee in their trees here at this site (two of them have duplicate trees/accounts)

Not sure what you mean - you do know those people, or you don't and you have tried to contact them but had no luck?

the odds are very low that he or anyone who knows him will stumble on this message of yours - but if someone googles his name, maybe they will

oh, and now marking a post here as 'answered' actually marks your entire thread as answered (meaning you need no further assistance) ... no one realises this and site management refuses to fix the problem

do you know Christopher's original middle name ... might it have been Nicholas?

do you know anything about the social circumstances of the family he was fostered and adopted by? was Mrs Gilpin married (i.e. not widowed, or single but called 'Mrs') at the time she fostered?

I ask because there is a Mrs Gilpin in the 1939 register I am wondering about, who had a daughter who married in the mid-1950s and may have a son for whom there is no birth record ...
