A married woman could register a child with her husband's name as her own present surname even if they were not together.
Not sure about if they had actually divorced.

You could apply for a copy of the certificate yourself, to find details.

In case you weren't aware, this is the official site to order a copy of the birth certificate at a cost of £9.25 including world wide postage and packing. All major credit and debit cards accepted.

Use the details from the reference you found but do not add additional details.

The birth certificate asks the mother for the surnames she has ever been known as regardless if she was a widow or had divorced/seperated from her husband. The space for the father's name might have been left blank.

As divorce proceedings could take a number of years, there's no guarentee that you share the same father. You might have to do the math once you have the dob and compare it to your parent's marriage date.

A birth is reg in the mums current surname even if she is separated divorced or widowed. It will give the mothers maiden name .

The cert will tell you if a father is named on it

One thing we perhaps should ask - are you aware if your father had to pay maintenance for a child? Had you actually been told that he had a daughter with Annie Rayner or did you just stumble across the birth registration?

What we're trying to establish is whether there is any foundation to your suspicion that Jennifer is biologically.
