Thanks Jonesey

How does one get in touch with the Duke of Edinburgh's regiment

The Probate Calendar available on Ancestry has details of his will. His estate was valued at £464/3/2d and probate was granted to his widow Daisy Maude Coole on 4/4/1918.

Name: Herbert Edward Coole
Probate Date: 4 Apr 1918
Death Date: 12 Aug 1917
Death Place: Bristol, England
Registry: Bristol

Unfortunately it does not look as if his WW1 service records survived.

The War Diaries of Duke of Edinburgh's (Wiltshire Regiment) 1st Battalion in which he served may reveal more about the regiments activities and circumstances of his death.

My great Uncle Herbert Edward Coole was killed in the first World War. I have his date of death etc from the commonwealth site.

Is there any way I can find anymore information on him. I know the basic details like DOB and who he married etc.

Any help would be appreciated
