can anyone help me with finding my dads records he was in the second world war and was in the Lancashire fusiliers number 3461580 infantry . I have tried all I can but keep coming up with nothing .

I had to get my Grandfathers records from here .
No WW2 records are available online ...Yet

You will need a Completed Certificate of Kinship or whoever is next in line age and relationship wise will need to give you permission to apply,My Aunty was next in line so she gave me written permission to apply

Proof of death if the service person died after leaving the service
A cheque or money order for 30 Pounds made payable to
MOD Accounting Officer.

Mine took about three weeks to get from the UK to Australia,It was well worth the money.

Hi Lorraine,

Sue is right - you will have to apply for the records which will still be with the MOD. However I don't know whether it was because Sue was applying from Australia that she got the records so quickly but most people I know in England have had to wait many months for the records to arrive. My father's records took 9 months to arrive.

Again as Sue said - well worth waiting for.

I did get mine two years ago so things may have changed a bit.

I found the records wonderfull to read and helped me understand my Grandfather who was a wonderfull man I might add:-)

Going to send for my other Grandfathers records his year:-)

I got my dads 3 or so years ago and it took nearly 9 months.

When you apply they do tell you it can take up to 1 year.

The time it takes is dependant on the current applications etc., that are dealing with (ie current service details) and all applications from serving people takes precedence.

We are all of us in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars, Oscar Wilde New avatar, my dad age about 3/4 months, could have been worse, it could have been the awful nude on a rug!!
