I'm not too sure if this is the correct place to post this, so if I am breaking any rules my apologies.
I have been researching my family tree and in particular my late father. My interest is in his service history of which I have only scant details, and the RAF is not very helpful.
He served in the RAF VR from 1939 to 1946, ( rank LAC, but may also have had a temporary commission) and in places such as Pembrey in South Wales, Fairwood Common and later in Bahrein.
He was born 15/11/1910 in Northshields Northumberland and died in Luton Bedfordshire 19/01/1975.
I know this is a long shot, but is there anyone out there who possibly has relatives who knew him or served with him and can offer any information, or can offer any advice or tips on how to find out more?
Any help will be most welcome.

You say that the RAF were not very helpful?

Did you apply to the RAF Disclosures section for his service records?

Hello Porkie Pie

Yes I did, twice, at a cost of £30.00 each time. However all they would release was an abbreviated record. I have reason to believe that he was connected (at one stage) with RAF Intelligence and wondered if this is why they have/will not release his full record.
Many thanks for your reply
Best wishes
