The medal roll of Sidney W Challis South Wales Borderers service no 20226
shows in the remarks column what appears to be a picture of a leaf.

It is not an Oak leaf which could be connected to being mentioned in dispatches.
I am hoping someone has come across this before and could offer an explaination.

My internet at the moment keeps going down, so please excuse me if i do not answer any replies promptly.
Thank you for any assistance.

Just to clarify that this is WW1 as his medal card is on Ancestry

Please excuse the late reply. Yes that is the medal card Glitter.

I am beginning to think it may be just a watermark.

Thank you for your reply.

I would agree it is a watermark as I have looked at other medal cards
