Thank you Gwyn

I found out quite a bit about him as over the years i've subscribed to a few different sites

I'd like to know how & where he died & it seems he's dropped off the planet at the moment, such a shame as over this last weekend i had some fantastic help from the peeps on here helping me find his son's (same name) tragic death in a riding accident in India

kind regards

These are the only two likely deaths for that name I can see. The year of birth on death certificates is sometimes wrong as the information given is only as accurate as the informant's knowledge of the deceased. :-

Do you know if he was in the Boer War? Did he die in South Africa? My grandfather was in the King's Royal Rifle Corps and he was in South Africa during the Boer War.

Hi Kath

I/We strongly suspect he was in the Boer War & he did die in South Africa but no sound evidence of this YET!!!

He died on 05-09-1900 two months before his youngest son William Edward Williams ( my hubby's grandfather) was born

He's not in the Anglo-Boer War records 1899-1902 on FMP. There are some records for some Charles Henry Williamses, but they are privates, or in one case an orderly, and not in the KRR.

I can't find a service record for him either.

I did find one for a Frank Williams in the KRR, born c1863 Fareham.

Also a Henry Williams in the KRR but born c1862 St Mary's, London, Middlesex, England, next of kin father, Charles, South America.

I have to admit the new layout on FMP is not helping - I can't be sure I haven't missed something. :-(
