My husband was adopted and didn't want to look for his birth family in case this upset his adopted parents. However, when they died we started the search. When we finally got his birth certificate ( after a compulsory meeting with a social worker) it gave both his parents' addresses. When I checked on the internet there turned out to be a historical society covering the area for one address
Through this society we've found two half sisters on his mother's side, and two half brothers on his father's. This took two days.
So my only message is, don't give up hope
