I know what's missing re our profile pics.........space to put a brief description of what/who the pic is!

They have this feature on other sites I think.

I would like to put up a pic of my grandad in his uniform without having to keep telling people who he is......should they ask of course :D

What does anyone else think?

Totally agree on this point.

Already changed mine to show the badge of Border Regiment but would love to also put a picture of my grand dad in his uniform

Can you scan your picture with who it is written underneath and then update so that is shown on your posts?

Persie

Edit: You can also put whatever you like re researching. You could type in there my picture is etc.. Just a thought.

I have added details of my avatar as Persephone has suggested, by labling the photo, but as you can see it is almost unreadable being far too small!

Although I agree the description could be added too the 'researching' field, in my case the box would almost be as big as my postings :D

Maybe an extra box on the account page for an avatar description (to show under the avatar perhaps rather than under the 'researching' box?) would solve the problem?

Over to you Genes

for the moment you can add anything into the researching section, so you could add Photo >my grandad quite easily

Hi Cynthia,

You could try opening your photo in Picasa which will allow you to add text of any size, colour etc and move it about the photo as in my example.

Of course you may have to eat the other cushion to make room for the text .

http://picasa.google.com/

Have a wee look and play around with the "Edit" facility.
When you have applied text to your photo, go into "file" and **save it as** = whatever name you like = on desktop which will allow you to find it very quickly indeed for your update.

A word of caution as Picasa will try to make Google your default search engine amongst some other changes which you may or may not want / require.

## Just make sure you check out all the tick or untick boxes in the terms agreement before clicking "AGREE" ##

...............It's nothing sinister, but if you are happy with your present settings, it may worry you to find that they have suddenly changed.

ALWAYS CHECK THE TICK BOXES EVERYTIME YOU DOWNLOAD SOMETHING ! :D

ooooh Frank, you're taking tekkie again :S

I am going to throw more than a cushion at you soon
:P

I think I will go with the idea of using the researching box for the time being.

Thanks for your thoughts everyone... :D

Wow Cynthia,

Those cushions obviously agreed with you............ :P

Here's another example of text on a picture which can be as large as you like and placed where ever you want.

With the photo being so small try tinkering around with the image, old grey photos can soon be brightened up with a few twitches first. :-)

My dear Cynthia,

That soft spot I had for you is vanishing quicker than those cushions you keep devouring.

Sounds like you are suffering from indigestion, so no more tekkie chat for a while.

Lovingly yours,

Old, grey and twitchy.............. :S :P
