I want to post another family member a few generations from my original post. Do I delete the original post so that I can post a new one ?

There is certainly no need to delete your original post before posting your new one as the people concerned are generations apart.

I would however suggest that if there was any information obtained in your original post about the individual you now wish to post about that you include a reference to it in your new post. That should prevent any duplication of effort.

Good luck with your research.

Deleting one post and starting another is *not* compliance with the rule against duplication. It's just deleting the evidence.

Most of us think that continuations on a family should stay in the same thread because all the background info is there.

jax is right, though, this board is supposed to be for suggestions to GR. You might want to ask questions like this on Genealogy Chat.

Appreciate your help - I get confused still with which board is for what despite reading the instructions etc. Always happy to get some polite advice. I was asking for a suggestion on how to go about doing something so I thought the suggestion board was the correct one. I did think deleting my post might be incorrect so thanks for answering this for me.
