I was on the site two hours ago.

I did NOT sign out.

I just had to sign in again!

Does the bug work overtime at weekends?

:-P

Have the opposite problem.
Logged out at about 8 15 BST. Came back on the site about 12.30 BST to find I was still logged in.

I had an interesting one early this morning June 3 (UK time)

Not been on the site for over 24 hours.

Did not have to sign in at around 1 am June 3 (UK time

Opened a thread, no problem

read posts on both page 1 and page 2 of thread, no problem

But then, I could not get OUT of the thread.

The only way was to get out of GR, then re-enter the site.

This happened a total of 5 times, before I decided it was for the birds!

I tried again about 2 hours later ............. and everything was working fine.

I sent a message to GR about having to login, even though I had not logged out.

Guess what the response was..... go on.... have a guess.

What a surprise!

" I suggest you delete cookies "

I should laugh, but it's really not funny any more.

:-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P :-P

I've been a member of the site for 2 years now and the 'Remember Me' option has never worked. I know I'm easily forgettable but I'm also lazy when it comes to passwords and hate having to log into everything everytime I come to the internet. I'm on the site daily and even then sometimes find myself having to log in several times a day.

I can see by this thread it's been going on for some time so just wondering when it will be fixed. I've never had this problem with any other sites so it can't be too diificult to sort surely??

If you are using IE9, have you got Delete Browsing History on Exit set in Internet Options, and the Cookies and Passwords boxes ticked in Delete Browsing History? If so that could explain why you always have to sign in.

SylviaInCanada Report 14 Jun 2012 19:34

It has been very much better for me for the last few weeks ...........

............ I'm only having to sign in once or twice a week now, and I open GR 3 or 4 times a day

so that is much better.

I've only had a couple of Error messages when submitting a post ................ much better.

I'm getting to be a happy bunny :-D :-D

Another bug?

On the Announcements board GR suggests we look at blogs on family stories.

Did that.

Clicked the back button

Please sign in - to the Genes UK page

Clicked the X

Clicked on browsing history.............

Got straight back in to Genes Aus

Kense

Kense Report 7 Jul 2012 09:19

That isn't really a bug Scozz. The url given on the blog is a uk site one so you have to be logged into the UK site to see it which is why it asked you to log in. It did not log you out of the au site.

LadyScozz Report 7 Jul 2012 13:21

Kense - I looked at the site before I was asked to login

Kense Report 8 Jul 2012 07:47

You can do quite a lot on a GR site without being logged in. It's usually when I look for new postings and find that the icon for every thread indicates a new posting, that I realise I have been logged out. I don't normally enter the site by the home page though.

Ken

I must be a bit thicker than you ..................

it's usually when I can't post a comment on a thread that I realise I'm not logged in :-D :-D

Kense

Kense Report 9 Jul 2012 09:14

No you are not Sylvia. It is because I usually make a beeline for the Suggestions board where a pageful of threads with new postings would be unusual.

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 9 Jul 2012 19:10

hmmmmmmmmmm ..................

that's where I usually go first as well

and still don't take in that the whole page has "new" posts, until I decide "this" thread just has to have a response from me .......

........ and then can't post.

goes away muttering "must remember my memory pills" :-D :-D

I found I got signed out yesterday. When I leave the PC I normally shut most windows but this time I was away for a few hours and came back and a GR window was open. I know some sites sign you out after a period of inactivity so I wonder if Genes does that.

Does anyone know if that is the case?

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 11 Jul 2012 20:36

Ken

I usually close all windows and turn off my computer (though leaving the power on) when I am going to be away for any length of time.

The only time I do not do this is when we are having dinner in the evening .......... I may be away from the computer for 1-2 hours then

GR has not shut me down during that time on the occasions when I have left the site open.

I do not know about longer periods.
