Yet another one
General Chat : A TO Z of Hobbies.

It is not the poster's fault that it had not been included by genes reunited in the new quizzes and games board
sigh emoticon if there were one here.

When Ginny's OP was RR'd, I sent an email to 'theteam' in protest. I received an extremely pleasant and apologetic message back assuring me that it was to be reinstated....which it was.

For the same thing to happen again, in such a short space of time, looks rather as if the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing with the GR team.

I do hope they can get their act together soon. Cx

I was reported for posting something on a thread about L** A*TLE and I was given a warning and told the post was removed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I dont care

BUT
The post was put on GR in Feb 2001 and I was warned and told it had been removed 5 weeks ago!
I,m sure GR have trouble keeping up!

JaneyCanuck Report 5 Jun 2011 15:17

Just to be clear -- "newsflash" the thread has been removed, I gather. Perhaps GR doesn't share members' sense of humour. A naive viewer could have thought the newsflash was real ... you know, people who believe April fools ...

Ginny's thread is different. The *OP* has been repeatedly reported (the thread remained until the report of the opening post was dealt with). It was reinstated the first time, a couple of days ago, and reported again.

On the boardname thing. A subscriber has to *choose* in their account details to show their boardname rather than their real name. This is not appropriate.

Real names should not be revealed unless a user expressly *chooses* to do that. (And frankly, even that shouldn't be an option -- most people using this site don't have a clue about the reasons to maintain privacy on the internet.)

I am also satisfied that privacy issues are being considered now, although it is several years too late.

I think General Chat is where the caution about abusive reporting needs to be reported. I think many if not most people there ... the people who abusively report posts ... never look at this board.

Gai

It is not automatic that when sending a PM that you see the person's board name. That option has to be selected in the person's profile

Hope you feel better soon Joy

We've heard from GR and there is no glitch....someone is RR :-(

Joy

Joy Report 5 Jun 2011 13:27

General Chat : News Flash!! has been removed so there just has to be a glitch. No one in his / her right mind would have removed it.

Gai Report 5 Jun 2011 12:21

PP, are you aware that GR changed the system awhile ago that when you click on someone's board name that is the name that now appears.

Joy

Joy Report 5 Jun 2011 10:55

Surely there has to be a glitch of some kind - yet another:
General Chat : News Flash!!

If you keep reporting posts that are not breaking the rules then you risk being banned from this site

So, hiding behind your RR is not going to protect you

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 5 Jun 2011 02:17

Yes, GR knows perfectly well who reports posts, and is able to see patterns.

I don't feel that I should repeat what has been said to me by staff, but I am satisfied that malicious reporting is being dealt with.

Obviously it could be difficult to spot a pattern if numerous individuals are involved, but it might not be impossible (e.g. a raft of my posts were reported within a short time the other night, so even if all reports were by different people, the pattern was obvious).

GR wouldn't be able to disclose the name(s) of the people involved, but I think the situation is safe in their hands for now.

The more the post is reported, the more obvious the ill-will becomes.

Gee

Gee Report 5 Jun 2011 02:07

I'm sure GR can trace the reporter...I'm very sure!

Gai

Gai Report 5 Jun 2011 01:56

I hope GR can trace whoever is doing this reporting and banned them from the site.

Maybe GR should Sticky it to the top of the board for a week to show that they don't have a problem with.

It can't be allowed to continue
