Please, GR, explain why you charge credit cards in US dollars for someone who is subscribing to the .co.uk site but who does not live in the UK


You have done this to me today ........................ and it is going to cost me much more than the UK £


I live in Canada. We have our own monetary system. We do not use the US dollar.


I want to pay in sterling


I am extremely annoyed!

I get this every time I try to email GR ..................... my server obviously doesn't recognize GR for some unknown reason



or have I been blocked???????????????????????

Seems very strange Sylvia! Why would they block you OR charge you in a currency you don't use. Maybe they think all dollars are the same??


If you can't get a response on here, why not try their FB page?


Problem is.......it's the weekend! :-(

Funny you should have problems with the email address as I had the same problem a couple of weeks ago.

I sent an email through the normal system and mine came back blocked as it contained a virus. So I did a complete virus scan and no virus was found. So resent it and again and yes it came back again for the same reason. So I went to the Mac and sent it from there and again came back due to a virus.

Knowing that it couldn't be right I then went through the GR site and sent it and it went though without a problem. So maybe you can't externally send GR an email anymore.

With regard to subs renewal I questioned mine because when they quoted the membership amount there wasn't a currency on it. GR responded saying because I'm in Australia the amount would be in Australian Dollars, so I would have thought your renewal would have been in Canadian dollars.

Sylvia, what currency did they use last time you renewed?

Send an email to support@genesreunited.co.uk or use the Contact Us page which does not use any external email system. Please note, we do only accept UK pounds, Euros, US dollars, Australian dollars, South African rand and New Zealand dollars. At this time these are the only payment options and always have been as far as I know. Support may be able to shed more light on this for you. Regards Phil

I don't understand, Sylvia. I live in Canada, use my Visa card. pay in British pounds and it's converted to Canadian dollars.

This has in fact happened before when I was completely unable to reply to or correspond with Estelle. I had not tried to use the outside email system since that time, which is a few months ago.


I have renewed annually every year since 2004 .... and my cc has always been charged in £


I do not want my cc charged with any other currency except UK pounds

Why?

I want to know just what is being charged in £

and also because most companies use one set exchange rate, a rate that is often set once a month. The cc companies use the rate of exchange at the moment that the charge is made. There can be a significant difference



Plus the fact that Canada does not use USD ................ and some of us consider it insulting to be charged in a foreign currency :-D

Unfortunately, I have already sent some messages through the pm system, thus I have lost my right to withdrawing within 7 days and getting a full refund.



but I am getting very seriously to the point of leaving. It just isn't worth the frustration.

I have no trouble at all getting and sending email to that one! (but then I haven't had trouble with any others, either, and haven't tried them recently)

Just say it's over to them, and they can forward your message to wherever it should go, and make sure it's somewhere you're going to be able to email back to.


Oh, and yes, it really is obnoxious to bill Canadians in USD.

Bad enough there are .com.au, .za and .nz addresses, plus .com of course, for the website, and no .ca. I mean, really, South Africa and New Zealand? Somebody missed that other really really big pink blob on the map somehow?
