I'm using Firefox and had accessed the site from three different PCs in the last week and had no error messages whatsoever. The only problem I am having is that I am unable to upload any photos whatsoever to any profile on either the new or old tree. So I'm not sure what is going on, I don't other people are having probelms with photo uploading?

As long as Genes keep the old tree available I'll be happy, I hate the new one with a passion.

Really does not matter to you what systems I am using.

But as you have asked - Windows XP and IE8 but this should not be a problem. They work on all other sites such as Ancestry, FMP, Scotlandspeople, FreeBMD etc etc etc

If you have not been getting any of the error messages then you are lucky.

Some of the following that have produced an error message -

Search on a board
My Threads
Clicking on board
clicking on a thread
hit submit button to post a reply on a thread
Getting stuck on the error message

The error message is back.

I don't have GR on Favourites.

Type the address ..........

Error Message...........

SOMETIMES clicking on the GR logo gets me in, most times I get another Error Message....... usually takes at least three attempts to get on site.

Yes, I delete cookies, cupcakes, scones, biscuits......... and everything else they recommend......... :-P

Looking at other trees......... keep getting message "problem connecting to GR" when searching... but next try it usually works. :-(

Thanks PeeEmm :-)

I tried to load a few, but they were "wrong format"........ the Lion Rampant will be there until I find something else. I was fed up looking like a blobby bloke.

Someone said they needed sunglasses to look at it. Sunglasses in Scotland? I prefer the weather in Australia :-D

IGP - At last GR admitting it isn't the fault of all of us!!

Maybe somebody at GR finally read some of the message boards (I suggested it to them a few times).

I hope they realise only a fraction of GR members look at the boards and post on them.

How many members are sitting in front of their computers, cursing?!

How many are totally fed up and won't return?

I know there isn't a limit to the number of contacts, or the size of a tree, I also know it isn't my fault. Why did the GR reply state that as an "excuse" ?

I'm waiting for the site to shut down for at least a week while they stick more glue and bandages on it............ then wait for it to fall apart again.

:-D

Scozzie,

It isn't your fault nor is there a 'limit' on the number of records a member can have.

However, as I have been saying for weeks now, the problem is as GR has now finally acknowledged in their reply to you. The database has grown too such a size that the system can no longer manage the volumes of data that have to be processed for certain member profiles efficiently, and so it times out.

Unfortunately there is nothing more we as members can do, nor is it suddenly going to fix itself as if by magic overnight. The ball in in GR's court now to get on and fix it.

I'm getting really fed up now!!

Typed my post, clicked on send, and got nothing. Forgot to copy it before sending, so I'll make sure to copy it this time :-| :-| :-|

Once again, a reply from GR........ it's MY fault

" I am sorry our last fix didn't work. The problem is that our site is timing out when you log in due to the amount of data it has to load. I can see you have many contacts and a large tree. Each time you sign in to the site we are trying to load, and refresh, the contacts and your Hot Matches. These are what is causing the site to time out. "

Yes - I have many contacts (I didn't know there was a limit) :-|
Yes - I have a large tree (many trees on GR bigger than mine)

Isn't that what it's about? Making contacts and building a tree?

Hot Matches? I last received a list of Hotmatches 5 December 2011. One contact, one name. A "Brand New Member" the list said........... so I sent a message, which hasn't been opened yet. Maybe the Brand New Member can't get on site?

I tried to delete the "rejected" hotmatches. Couldn't do it...... and kept getting Error Messages.

And the usual.......... took me at least 5 minutes to get on site, constant Error Messages. :-P :-P :-P :-P
