Catherine - if you can remember who sent them, look for their name in the 'My Contacts' list.

If either you or they have 'Deleted Contact' then the messages are hidden until contact is re-established

I can open Message Centre

I can read one message but then have to leave Message Centre and re-enter before reading another one

I cannot open Sent Messages, so I can not check that a message has gone, nor whether it has been read.

I can send messages now

Yes, the problem I mentioned some 4 months ago still has not been corrected.

If you have several messages in your inbox to view, the first opens fine. However, you can not open the second or subsequent message unless you refresh the page by pressing F5, or by selecting inbox again from one of the menus.

Quite spooky this message box system..

I have the same prob as IGP

But I really do have to say that Sylvia's problem is beyond the pale. Maybe Canadian postal system has increased the price of postage. We were advised today that ours will increase 1st July.

Hi All

One of the changes we made was introduce the concept of conversation view. The intention introducing this view I believe is correct, as it gives the user the ability to see all that has been said before, but it requires a bit of pre-processing before it can display it. The database has to work out all the messages that relate to the original message. On older threads which are spread across a longer period, the process has to jump around the table looking for these messages and then flag them all up, and then even the reading back requires the same.

I think this is likely to be the cause of the issue, as generally messages that only have one response I find open fairly instant. Please correct me if you are experiencing otherwise.

We need to look at a few options,
pre-processing all the messages into the conversations
improving performance of reading conversation (with better indexes)
maybe offer an option to open just the most recent message, rather than the whole thread, although this may get confusing (people may think they have lost all their messages)

Please let me know if this seems the likely cause, i.e. are the problems most common on old or long conversations? If you want to send examples and prefer to send them to me direct that is fine.

Thanks
Phil Moir

I am with IGP and Sylvs on that one; where it freezes when you try to open another message. It has happened ever since the message system changed and folders and other things came into play.

Welcome home thread, welcome home,
Don't you know that you've been gone too long.
We're just so glad that you survived.
Is it only you that wonders why
That you have lived and other threads have died.
