Please GR do something about this facility...

And give us back the ability to search via a poster's name as well as subject matter or content...

Though I do know that if a person's name was more than so many characters long one could not search for them in the past ...

So if someone wants to call themselves " eenie meenie minie mo ... one can find his/her post.

I have tried several searches this week including searching for threads using a particular village name as a periodically do. It comes up with the searching page for a few seconds then blanks out and then comes back and then blanks out again repeatedly.

Whilst I have often thought the thread search has been a bit cumbersome and slow, I must say I have used it several times this past week and it has worked ok for me. However, it does appear to search message content, not just headings, so this itself will put a load on the system and might also bring back more results than expected.

As Joy says, using a persons board name is problematic, but perhaps if those experiencing problems can give some further examples then it might help with the resolution.

Still not fixed.

It has certainly not been possible to search for threads using a person's board name for some time.

Maybe the Search was just taking too long and timing out ?
That could explain it.

I rekon it is still probably worth Genes investigating further. I presume they will have logs for failed searches.

It certainly wasn't functioning a few days ago - I tend to use the Advanced search when looking for a particular thread - but have just tried again and it seems as though the problem has been solved.

There have been problems with the AS ever since the alterations last year.

I just tried a search on this Board for the word "tree"

It returned 40 threads

What is it that is not working? :-S

The whole search facility has needed a major overhaul for months, it does not work effectively in any respect 'normally' and is not working at all at the moment.

This has been mentioned on FB too GB. No response as yet. Maybe there is no one about because of the Bank Holiday.......?? :-S

The search facility on this board is not working nor is the Advanced Search


Can this be fixed please.
