Genes Advisor Report 4 Jan 2012 14:14

Hi everyone, we have replied on another thread. I am now going to lock this thread so that everyone can reply on one thread.

Incidentally, I was RR'd once and my post removed because I had the unmitigated gall to post a pm that I had received from GR. Evidently that was against the rules. It seems to be OK now?

If GR is going to have these draconian rules either stick to them or forget them. There seems to be certain rules for certain people.

QUOTE: 'Of course genes reunited staff should discuss postings with the individuals that posted them!

I am utterly appalled that no member of staff has had the common courtesy to respond in the genes reunited site.'

Well Joy, that just about sums up what they think of their paying members. I am disgusted at their inability to see what their lack of action is doing to the members and the boards.

"we follow a tight moderation policy to ensure that a consistent approach is adopted."

since when?! The random nature of moderation has been a bone of contention on this site for years!

Of course genes reunited staff should discuss postings with the individuals that posted them!

I am utterly appalled that no member of staff has had the common courtesy to respond in the genes reunited site.

Well, in my opinion, IGP, that response tells you absolutely nothing.

InspectorGreenPen Report 4 Jan 2012 12:07

I have read the reply on FB and don't believe this to be satisfactory either. I have therefore sent the following message in response to their reply to me this morning.

"Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately this is of little help as without details of the posting concerned I am at a complete loss as to what breach of guidelines I am alleged to have made.

Given the concern that has been raised on the message board in the past 24 hours re similar incidents, I should be grateful if you would refer this to
senior management for a full and proper response.

Regards and thanks"

Just received response from Support Team as follows:-

"Thank you for your email.

We won't discuss individual postings, but please be assured that our moderation team follow strict guidelines and individually examine each report that is made to them.

A posting is only removed from the site if it breaches our message board guidelines. Here's a link to those guidelines for your reference:

http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/content.page/message_board_guidelines

It wouldn't be in our interest to remove postings unnecessarily nor to accept postings which breach our guidelines, and we follow a tight moderation policy to ensure that a consistent approach is adopted.

If you believe that other inappropriate postings remain on the site, please let us know by clicking on the 'report' link which you'll see above each posting.

Many thanks for your co-operation.

Kind Regards,"

I have to admit I'm interested in what they had to say but what I really want is for GR to respond on their own site, not on Facebook! I'm really angry!

Margee,

Would you like me to copy the facebook posts on here?

MargaretM

MargaretM Report 4 Jan 2012 10:54

Responded on Facebook? I can't believe it!!! Many of us never use that site. I've had it!!!

GR have responded on the Facebook thread.

It's 5:30 am here. Couldn't wait to get online to see what GR had to say for themselves. Can't believe they have not responded with an explanation! GR, this is a very important issue to many of us. Please respond!!!

If saying GR records are not easy to use is against the T &Cs I would like them to tell me so

Not sending me an email with a warning that they will delete my account if I get 3 warnings.

As I said before if I had not seen that my post had been reported in the middle of the night...I would have had no idea why I had recieved this email just like yourself and a few other members IGP

InspectorGreenPen

InspectorGreenPen Report 4 Jan 2012 05:46

I also received a message from GR yesterday afternoon advising that one of my recent postings had been removed.

Whilst I have no issue with the principle of removing members postings that are outright abusive or in blatant, repeated or deliberate breach of the site Terms and Conditions on this occasion I have absolutely no idea whatsoever which post they might be referring to.

I have replied to GR support asking for further information and look forward to receiving a reply later today. :-|

I see that Phil managed to post at about 10 pm UK time, on another thread.

but no response to this one ............. nor to the one I put up on fb

although it must be obvious that angry members have posted on both.

I am about to activate subs on two other sites. I have been holding back, largely because I did feel some loyalty to GR ......... but that's gone!

GlitterBaby Report 3 Jan 2012 23:03

Not really my idea for this thread but was so annoyed at the treatment dished out to some members that I had to post something.

GR are not doing themselves any favours at the moment. They seem incapable of sorting out the many problems on this site which is upsetting the members and now this treatment.

It is the members, especially those who help with requests, that make this site what it is and what seems to have been forgotten by the GR Team.

Carry on kicking the members up the A*** and see how much longer they will put up with it before leaving.

Kense

Kense Report 3 Jan 2012 22:42

Thank you for making the suggestion GlitterBaby. I had three messages from GR about removal of my posts but no explanation as to what they were. I don't intend posting again until I get some clarification from them.

I think PP and I were just being mischievous there!!

One of the sites that resulted in RR'ing was a mention of freebmd.
