Andrew

I too have scottish and irish ancestors. Scotlands People is a pay to view site. Although I have said in the past that I find it expensive, especially as I have very common names to research, when you find a likely ancestor the information given is very good and muich fuller than other certs.

I do wish they would let me subscribe like other sites but it is not their policy to do so. I suppose that is the same as GRO anyway.

..... and the Scottish government does not allow any other site to carry their records

..... so it is not a GR fault, or problem

Hark at me, supporting GR!
