to be honest .......... I did not think of using the contact through the Beta site. I just remembered the email which said ....................

"Your feedback is important to us, so whether you love it, hate it or think we could improve it with a few changes, please let us know by sending your comments to [email protected] "

That to me reads that they want feedback sent to that email address.

In any case ............................ I could NOT send any kind of comment through the beta site, as the GR server will not accept any email sent from my server. It has not done so for more than 2 years

I have to go to gmail to contact them

and that was the more interesting point ............

............ that the email address THEY gave for feedback was not accepted by gmail ..... calling it a "non-valid address for GR"

I'm already using the back door, you see

Sylvia, I have realised that the email addy [email protected]
appears to be causing problems for some people but why are members repeatedly trying to use an addy that has problems?

Surly when you go to the beta site and want to give feedback it must be easier to give that feedback using the link on the actual beta site rather than going back to the link on the received email? or by entering the flawed email addy from your email service?

It is a beta site so it's their for testing purposes and that would include testing the links within the site for contacting GR

If all else fails you can always use the one of the other email addresses such as [email protected]

If i go home and my key broke in my front door then i would enter through the back door rather than standing outside wait for the locksmith

Roy

I also got the [email protected] as the return address to use for feedback on the makeover.

It would not work with my home email

so I decided to use gmail.

I copied over the feedback, and tried to send it to [email protected]

gmail said that address was not valid for GR

so I tried [email protected] (as given by someone else

gmail said that address was not valid for GR

so I tried [email protected]

success.

But the letter most definitely gives a link to [email protected]

Is there a fault that causes the same message to appear on more than one thread?

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 20 Jul 2012 17:50

That is the email address that was given to reply to on the email to ask an opinion on their "new look"Beta site Roy.
I know it is not their normal one for complaints/help but it is the one I was asked to reply on by the GR team..

Porkie_Pie Report 20 Jul 2012 17:33

FannyByGaslight, Not sure the email address you posted is a valid address for GR

their address for support is

[email protected]

or you can use the contact us under the help tab

Kense Report 17 Jul 2012 22:57

Actually the help given by members on the boards is a very small part of the site's function.

It you check the site activity on the home page you find that messages sent are two or three times more numerous than board postings (the majority of which are chat and games postings). New people added to trees are around ten times more numerous than messageboard posts.

It is fairly clear that this My Threads problem only affects those who have a large number of posts so it is quite a basic problem with the system and fixing it will benefit only a few members.

I suspect that the discussion items on the home page which has resulted in a lot of old threads being reactivated has had the effect of increasing the sort time associated with My Threads leading to more timeouts and consequent error messages.

This site only works because of the help given by members on the boards
:-D

But for us to help properly the use of My Threads is a must.

When is this going to get sorted :-P
