The new format is awful. I have given up using it. Please go back to how it was.

I agree. The new format is a complete disaster in so many ways. I cannot understand why Genes want to change the system which we are used to and works fine into one which is so exasperating and awful in so many ways. Like yourself, I just can't use it because it just makes me irritable and upset. I shall not be renewing my subscription if they don't put the new system where it belongs, which is the nearest dustbin.

By 'format', I assume you are referring to the changes to the tree software. Sadly the 'old tree' didn't work as it should either, cannot be maintained in its current state and in order to facilitate some of the changes coming, such as multiple trees, security options, better printing, alternative displays, etc it needed to be replaced with a newer version.

It is just unfortunate that the new tree did have rather too many bugs when first introduced and hence the old version is still there for those members who are having issues with it.

The situation is further clouded by the fact that the site was also suffering from performance issues which were not helping either, but these were not the fault of the new tree.

I havnt been on GR for months.
Im having a few problems with the new tree, mainly in editing and deleting, so swapped back to the old tree. Well i'm still waiting for it to load....
I think the new tree is faster..

Hi, I agree with you all, I am absolutely horrified at the state of this new software. Its been a while since I updated my tree, and I have lots to add to it, and have been trying to do this. The new software is very annoying. But basically I can't edit my tree - the new software tells me "please wait updating relations" if I enter something into the person details and click save - it then hangs and never finishes, the information just isn't accepted onto the system. I tried the old tree but it doesn't load and tells me there is a problem.
what a nightmare, am very very annoyed. Will have to move my tree to ancestry.

Juliet .............

you do NOT have to use the "new" tree.

You can still access the old one ... look for the drop down menu.

I just looked at a new contact's tree on the new tree format and couldn't find the person I was interested in. I went onto the old tree and the search showed the right person immediately. This doesn't encorage me to use the new format.

Have just rejoined GR after a break of several months and was totally confused by the new format. I really really don't like it. Have gone back to using the 'Old Tree'

It is now 3 months since GR introduced the new tree

One would think that at least SOME of the problems would be sorted out by now.

I have given up sending feedback as nothing seems to get fixed and now just use the old tree until such time as I hear something positive.

Well at least that is reliable compared to the new :-)

Oh I thought I was in the minority HATING the new format, as I do not access the Community pages that often - usually just having few minutes each week to PLAY on my family tree site.
How refreshing that I am not the only person who wrote on the feedback how awful the new site was - and that was in minutes of first using it. However after weeks of trying to get to grips with it I find that I click on use OLD TREE. A great comfort when it appears and my mood changes back to relaxed ready to find more to add to MY OLD TREE.
New is not necessarily better. :-S :-S :-S

It looks like they have now removed the 'old tree' option from the drop down menu. Nightmare. The new format is terrible.

Yes, I wanted to look at my old tree, with photos and other info, but it is no longer there. BRING BACK THE OLD TREE.
