I asked on Facebook why this keeps happening and GR have just responded.

GR- I am afraid we don't know. Only the thread owner or someone with admin status can delete threads. But this seems unlikely in these cases. We will see if we can get to the bottom of it.

One does have to laugh at times!


I can remember back to about 2005/2006 on original Friends Reunited (parent company of GR) when there was a similar spate of threads being removed, just like these Irish ones. I had 3 versions of one on prostate cancer removed, for example.

I had not deleted any of them. GR said they had no record of RR and had not deleted any of them ....... but also at that time, they were unable to re-instate threads, so I had to start a new one each time.


so who?????


It eventually came down to the fact that someone had managed to work out how to hack into the system and delete threads at will.



This went on, sporadically, for years ...... until at least 2008 or 2009.


I don't think anyone at FR ever worked out how the hacker had done it .......... although one or two members claimed to know how to it was done.





it couldn't possibly be, could it??????
