Well folks, Hot Matches today.
where are we up to?
Have we had any?
If so have we gone past the letter "A".
Are these new one's
When was the last time you had any?

Mine is about 2 years....

I placed some none connected members in my tree to see if they came up, but known to be in other trees. But this seems to be a wast of time.

Thank you for your time.
Stephen

Hi Stephen

I had an email from GR this week with a Hot Match. I have just investigated tonight and yes, it was quite good. The relative was my grandfather's uncle - not too remote.

In the email, GR had come up with about nine matches with same name (surname beginning with C for your info! ;-) ) and year of birth and two of them were same birthplace. Incidentally, I can see why they send you all birthplaces because with misspellings etc or alternative place names you could miss some if they only sent exact same birthplace matches. For instance my relative is Liverpool in the Hot Matches but on my tree is Everton, Liverpool. Equally could have been Everton, West Derby, Liverpool.

However, if I ever click on Hot Matches from my home page I never find any new ones - how come you can email me GR with them but I can't find them 'manually'?

Hope you will be lucky enough Stephen to get some decent matches from emails soon.

regards
Susan

Hi Stephen

I had an email yesterday telling me I had received hot matches.

I went to my home page and clicked on hot matches...nearly 2 pages in all...from A to W and each one completely accurate to my tree.

However I have always used my "Surname Summary" every 7 days or so to see if any of my family names and places have newly been added...this way I know that any possible contacts are still active on this site. Doesn't guarantee that I receive any response though :-(

I didn't know how to look at "Surname Summary" then I went to my home page and let my mouse hover over "Search Trees." (Actually, I clicked on it a couple of times before I realised I had to hover, not click!). Then when you hover a menu drops down and "Surname Summary" is there and you click on it. Thanks Linda, cos I found that very interesting and will do again in the future now.
