I don't usually check this board for newbies but, as this thread is over two weeks old, and the OP is obviously new to both GR and the boards, I have sent my usual guidelines on how to return to the thread.

This morning I received a contact message from another GR member. Access given to her tree........ clicked View...... ages to download her tree (View from a contact message always gives the NEW VERSION)......... then had to mess about to get any names............ searched for the names she gave me........ got a message saying they were not on the tree. Because she has living relatives hidden, and didn't give me any years of birth, I assumed they were born within the limit, so replied to her, saying I couldn't see them.

This afternoon I looked at my own tree....... the OLD version.......and thought I'd have another look at that person's tree........... opened immediately, all the names visible, and when I searched for the names she gave me, there they were!

Yet another bug in the new tree........... and the person who contacted me will think I didn't bother looking.

Calling it a shambles is an understatement.

There is insufficient info in the OP to understand the exact problem. Perhaps the poster could provide an example of the problem being experienced.

Unless the other member has opened his/her tree to you, you can't navigate it

I take it you are using the NEW tree,

try to use the old tree until GR sort it out,

could be some time before they do

I find it sometimes difficult to locate names in other people's family tree.Either I do not know how the search function operates or it does not work. When I put the name into the search field I expect the system to take me to that name but it does not.
Couldn't each entry into the tree be numbered so facilitate the search? The numbering does not have to be sequential as new entries would preclude this.
Or perhaps I am not using the search function properly??
