Sylvia, The treetectives web site you refer to has an advert for Genes Reunited on their homepage,

Which will explain why they are allowed to advertise on GR

I've just searched, the post is apparently still on Shaun's Welsh thread ............. and it is the ONLY post showing under the name.

I do not think this was a genealogy website...it was someone offering their services for payment I believe

Sylvia,
GR stated some time ago that they are ok with other genealogy websites being mentioned as long as it isn't a comparison saying 'this site is better than GR' - or words to that effect.

I noticed three threads yesterday that had been rr'd

One was a duplicate that caused no end of trouble last week

Another was lyrics to an old Tommy Cooper song

The last one was a newbie had posted his own email address

Now looking back at the boards....the thread with the lyrics quite rightly has been reinstated

The one which posted his email has been removed when GR could of edited :-S

And the thread that was a duplicate of the ones we had last week has been reinstated also????

I wonder if there is a human working in the RR dept?....because it sure does'nt look like it from what I have seen today

They have also stopped removing posts advertising some thing


I found one last week on a long running thread advertising the member's company which searches for ancestors

No information just the url and "looking forward to hearing from you.


I reported it


it was re-instated next morning.




I thought such advertising was against T&C's?

The worst thing is when both threads have answers on them!!!!
And the first reply on the 2nd is pointing out that it is a duplicate thread.

I know many of us have hit the post button twice in error, but once that is noticed by either ourself or others we are ususally quick to removed them.

And as for post same thread on several boards, that is just plain lunacy.
