An interesting side issue.
You know by now that you cannot reduce "My Threads"
I now have access to more trees than I have in "My Contacts".
I am guessing the people who gave permission must do the deletion.

I'm with everyone else - I am having real problems with the new tree. The main error is the duplications of new relatives. I am getting really fed up with having to go back & check how many copies have been made & then having to delete them. Also the whole thing is just so cumbersome to use - please bring back the old tree.

Why on earth did G.R. get rid of the 'old tree' set up?? The new one doesn't want to seem to load. It is much more difficult to use, is not very user friendly and it is not obvious how you find the list of trees you have access to. Please bring back the 'old' one. Until recently the 'old' one was also available. Now even that option has disappeared!!!

GR have re-invented the wheel and made it square so no surprise it doesnt work. It wasnt broken so why fix it. what we have now is a tree that doesnt work - everything you try to do is a lot more time consuming and protracted, names duplicate and indeed disappear. This is progress folks. When you contact support it is clear they do not read your complaint and you get a different person replying to you with no idea of what has preceeded your reply. If they dont start looking after members quickly they will find somebody else is looking after their members. They need to understand less is often more and we are not all computer nerds. Bill

:)

and now I have to retract my positive post. it turns out it is displaying in the good way when accessed from one place but still displaying in the bad way when accessed from another place ! Or is it that they changed it but today they have changed it back?

Folks say they don't read these threads. Maybe they read by "send us feedback" This issue has actually become a lot better today, there is now a "view other trees" link top centre of screen, and the dashboard that comes up has everything visible on screen.

What I don't like now is the hassle of having to select pages, from 13 pages of list of names, to find the tree name I want.

you will probably not get a response to your contact to GR until Monday morning

there is only a skeleton staff over the weekend from about 4:30 pm on a Friday to about 8:00 or 8:30 am Monday morning,

and the weekend staff seem to deal only with issues such as RR'd (reported for review) posts on the various Boards.

It has always been this way.

Hold down the control button on your keyboard and turn your scroll wheel.
By zooming out you can then find the full list.
All you need then is a magnifying glass.
Seems better if you use Google chrome.

I had exactly the same problem Maurice but yesterday I had to change to full screen to see something which is when I discovered the full 'Tree Dashboard' pop-up with the list of all 'accessible trees' and the number of pages of names there are.
Maybe you have already discovered this...
Good Luck, Catherine x

Does anyone know how you can get into other members' trees that are open to you, when the member's name does not begin with A?

At first sight there appears to be no link into other members' trees at all, but I discovered it is the opractically hidden unnamed box that just siticks out imperceptibly behind the "search" section at top right of screen. Click that, and up comes a box called "Dashboard" which gives a list of all the tress open to you - but it is a vertical list that disappears offscreen. It can not be moved around to make more of it visible. It has a scroller, but this too stops working when you scroll as far as the screen edge. This prevents me reaching any tree hosts' names beyond the A's at top of list, and cuts me off from their trees.

I am experiencing similar issues

* Duplicate people are appearing
* Data is going missing
* Links are breaking
* Today it couldn't even find my own name

I have contacted GR - no response

I for one have lost all confidence in GRs ability to safely store all my research.

This probably explains why GEDCOM export seems to be overloaded. I started exporting four hours ago, and I'm still waiting! I think everyone-else must have the same idea. Time to switch supplier of services....

The new tree builder is a complete and utter shambles ! What I find hard to beleive, is that the staff at GenesR don`t realise the problem they are causing by not admitting nor understanding the fact. I for one, chose GenesR tree builder years ago because it was the best. By getting rid of the`old` tree, they now have nothing.
