I already posted how to do this. You can set them back to default in a moment just be enabling the "allow" option again.

reprise

(b) Using Firefox
Tools | Options | Colors
Disable "Allow pages to choose their own colors instead of my selections above"

Now you can set either custom color or select "use system colors" and then GRU will be in the same colors as for XP/Win7 etc.
You can also set your own preferred font.
However the changes will apply to all web sites.

IE, Chrome, Opera have similar functions.

Rollo,

I have no idea how to change the colours on the computer. My problem is I share this computer with my husband and if I go changing stuff on him he'll be less than impressed.

I have set it up as follows:

text: yellow
background: dark grey
visited links: red
unvisted links: light blue
font: Roboto 16 (from Android)

screen 1440 x 900
Looks fine. I suggest that Gru offers this as an alternative color scheme.

I have no idea why Gru don't allow users to customise colors fonts and backgrounds as they wish.

I've told Gr on Facebook to read the posts on the boards where members have given their feedback to Phil. I'm waiting to see how long GR leaves my post there before they delete it as you can't have your own opinion on Facebook.

I have also sent them an email and waiting for it to bounce back seeing they normally block my ISP.

Just looked at the tree - it has now also been changed. All I can see is fuzzy lilac and light teal coloured words which I can't even read :-| :-|

You have three options:

(a) scream 'n holler at Genes Support - best of luck

(b) Using Firefox
Tools | Options | Colors
Disable "Allow pages to choose their own colors instead of my selections above"

Now you can set either custom color or select "use system colors" and then GRU will be in the same colors as for XP/Win7 etc.
You can also set your own preferred font.
However the changes will apply to all web sites.

IE, Chrome, Opera have similar functions.

(c) if you are using Firefox you can run a GreaseMonkey script which will customise the look n feel for any site without affecting other sites. GreaseMonkey is free and there is lots of user help available.

Deja vu, Gai

So why did we waste our time testing the beta site and giving GR our feedback.

They didn't listen and change the colours for those members who were struggling with their eyesight.

:-P

I agree with the above about background and text.

I am wondering where are the exciting updates mentioned in
http://www.genesreunited.co.za/boards/board/announcements/thread/1306585

I too am finding the white background too glaring and the pale green text is difficult to read.

Also my emoticons seem to have disappeared - some people seem to have them but I don't - is there a 'simple' remedy for that?

The black text on the white background is dreadful on the eyes

The pale turquoise just "swims"

This is not an improvement, it is awful

Like many others waited in anticipation to see the changes - was supposed to be finished at 9am UK time - actually took longer than half n' hour but who cares.

Was it worth it - well with my elderly eyes the white background will take time to get used to - too bright.

The problem is the light teal text - I can hardly see it even with my glasses on.
Ridiculous seeing as many researchers are elderly.

My visited to the office all the personal were youngsters - Wonder did anybody bother to check the advised website guides for eyes/disability/elderly :-( :-( :-(
