"Also on the boards, we have compressed the profile details. When you hover over the image, the details will appear and you can click on the send message button. The reason for this change is to compress the post section on the thread view, and reduce the unnecessary white space. " Phil Moir

Yes but it did show without having to do that - also the send message is "hiding"

So why has it changed since this morning ?

I've been a member since 2005.

No problems with the updates, until the latest one :-)

I'm fairly computer literate.

I don't object to change. But I get annoyed when new things don't work!!!

I get VERY annoyed when the people who "force" something new on us don't answer our questions or listen to us!!!

I goes bit like this......... (dates by way of example so don't take them as actuals.....!

In 2003 GR was launched. Whilst it ran on Oil Lamps many people got used to it even though it was a bit basic.

In 2006, GR decided to upgrade to Candles. This went down rather badly with the hardened Oil Lamp users who couldn't see why there needed to be changes. It wasn't broke so why fix it.

On the other hand those who had never used Oil Lamps and those who thought them to be old hat couldn't see what all the fuss was about.

In 2009, GR decided to upgrade to Gas Light. This went down rather badly with the Candle users who couldn't see why there needed to be changes. It wasn't broke so why fix it.

There was a small group who insisted on going back to Candle power, despite the fact that it attracted so much criticism when introduced only three years previously. And again, those who had never used Candles and those who thought them to be old hat couldn't see what all the fuss was about.

In 2012, GR decided to upgrade to Electric Light. This went down rather badly with certain Gas Lamp users who couldn't see why there needed to be changes. It wasn't broke so why fix it. etcetera, etcetera,

There was yet again, those users who insisted on going back to Gas Lights, despite the fact that it had attracted so much criticism when introduced only three years previously.

On the other hand those who had never used Gas Lamps and those who thought them to be old hat couldn't see what all the fuss was about.

In 20??....!

And they say variety is the spice of life :-D

May be some of us have overindulged on variety ;-) and now we are fed up with it :-0

I have just realised something. At the moment I have my desk top pc open which I am working on, this is on Firefox windows 7, and I opened my IPad and access Genes via safari. The worst of the IPad is that I have ads on it flashing across. BUT Where on the desk top (Firefox) the quick search, preview blocks and names of posters etc are turquoise, on the Ipad they are a sea green. I suppose I shall have to check my netbook now as that is on XP and Firefox.

Lol: No wonder none of us can agree on the colours. On my netbook the colour of the Quick search block is more a dark bluish turquoise and the names of posters are a very faint darkish blue :-D

Oooh don't 'get used to it' that's fatal, Sylvia :-D

We used to have this fairly horrendous brick fire surround, floor to ceiling, and for the first year of living with it kept saying we should knock it down... but when it came to it, we'd 'got used to it' to the extent that we liked it lol.

am I getting used to it??????????????????????????

I'm not seeing a colour change since yesterday Sylvia, I am matching the colour of the thread background to a paint chart lol and it hasn't changed :-D

SylviaInCanada

SylviaInCanada Report 7 Aug 2012 19:15

The background on posts does seem marginally darker than it was yesterday, and more beige-y than grey.

Does it to anyone else?????????

John .......................

you was the one that raised the British retail, not me.

So please don't tell ME it was off topic and a waste of time!!!

As you will learn ........... threads often go off topic, then return to topic.

Just as in a conversation.:-D :-D

Sorry that you have the added problem of having to use a translator to communicate in English.

My m-i-l was 100% bilingual Welsh/English, with no accent in either language, to the end of her life. :-D

I have emailed them yet again. I hope they don't tell me to reduce the brightness of my screen Michelle as I have done that, it helps marginally but not a lot, it is still too bright and headache inducing.

Rambling Report 7 Aug 2012 12:01

Ginat37 If you are using IE8 that box that nanasue mentions may be missing the arrows, it is a little square to the right of the screen ( when you have selected a name) click on it, despite the lack of arrows it does work.

Although the suggestion GR gave you is a 'quick fix' the more people you can persuade to email

[email protected]

the more likely it is that they will soften the colour.

If you should decide not to renew, then you will revert to a free member and will still be able to access your tree, read the boards and reply to messages.

Just had a reply to my complaint about the colour of the site causing me headaches. I have been told to reduce the brightness of my screen when using the site. Bearing in mind I use this site several times a day and jump back and forth between here and other sites (where I have no problems), am I seriously being expected to mess about with the brightness everytime I leave/come back to the site?? Only have a few weeks left of my membership here, I won't be renewing at this rate.
