I cannot see the "Single Word Search" i am using campatibility view, but if i revert back from compatibility view to normal view then it says clearly in white letters "Single Word Search" under but in the same box as Quick Search

Quite an interesting point on Mr Magoo's thread on general re the colouring, prickly Holly has pointed out if you tilt the screen it alters the colour slightly, for me that is making the screen less 'glarey' and the text more distinct.

Edit...which probably explains why those viewing on a laptop have had less trouble with glare!

I find the boards a bit difficult to read. Two reasons ~ the glare and the size. I have messed around with the "brightness" (now I have a couple of card games that I have to adjust the brightness (again!) for. The size ~ I change to 150%. No, I do NOT need new glasses. I'm fine with reading everything else.

I got a few strange responses from GR about (not being able to use) my tree. I was under the impression that it had to be "Full Tree" before I could search for a name. Not so. None of the responses from "the team" were of any help...... but I played around with it and discovered - Compatability OFF ~ I can search my tree, add names, etc etc. Compatability ON, it's a total mess! I end up with my OH as the First person and all his ancestors, mine are waaaaaaaaay up the top. BUT ~ if I want to use emoticons :-D I have to turn the Compatability ON.

I still don't like the new tree very much. It's slow to use (compared with the old GR tree, and with my software).... all those downloading lines are SO annoying!

What a lot of messing about, for something that SHOULD be simple! :-P

har har har har

I tried something ~

I put my monitor on a box, lifted it up a wee bit!

Yay! It reduced the glare.

But!!! With my multi-focal specs I couldn't read anything ~ all fuzzy. lol

:-D :-P

Suggestion ~ the "Researching" info (as many have posted) is annoying. Why not have this in a different font, or italics?

A different font for research would be interesting and I like Jonesey's idea for better spacing and a darker line between.

Whilst I have had little problem with either my tree or the site, I came across this hiccup the other day.

Having what GR term as the 'largest mail box on the site', I decided I would whittle away at my contacts list and also delete those unnecessary trees which have been opened to me.

Easier said than done. I can delete a contact without difficulty but, their tree remains firmly in place.

I contacted GR, received a standard letter that it was being dealt with etc., whereupon, I immediately wrote back in a very personal way which elicited a reply advising me to write to those contacts whose trees I didn't want access to and ask them to close them.

Hahahahahahahaha ...... my reply back ran along the lines of......"as I have over 12,000 contacts, there is no way I am writing a letter to each of them thank you very much. Most of them wouldn't have a clue as to what I was on about as they are newbies I have helped to find their replies".

I was then asked to provide a couple of names which I had deleted but where the tree remained. I gave them three and it seems that the Technical Team is looking into the matter.

I will give them a couple of days to suss out how to correct this and then I will be asking for answers....
