This board has gone well past its sell by date so I suggest it is suspended, or what ever the technical term is, and no more new topics added.

Originally this board was a good idea but only if the GR Team had bothered to read the threads and state if any of the suggestions were being taken on board. Did any get included on updates on this site ? Without feedback how would we know.

At one time the thread titles were altered by the GR Team to show a code, such as BUG or ENT, but that idea quickly went out of the window. Probably about the time the GR Team appeared to lose interest in what any of its members wanted from this site and went away and did their own thing anyway.

Any recent response from the GR Team is to send details of problems to the Support Team which now gives an idea of what this board has become.

One or two members of the GR Team do seem to read this board but their replies are so infrequent that they might just as well close this board as it is no longer fit for its original purpose.

Okay my suggestion will not be popular with loads of members but I bet there are some that are thinking the same as me but would not post there views on this.

Now going to put on my hard hat and wait for the comments to flow

I agree, The lack of communication from GR on this board has left members feeling that any suggestions are not being read let alone taken seriously,

This has led to the board becoming a focus for complaints which receives the same lack of response from GR

The board has turned out to be nothing more than a PR stunt

Yet again Glitterbaby you speak words of wisdom

It has now got to the point that the 3 boards I regularly read General Chat, Genealogy Chat and Suggestions, along with the Facebook page are just full of people complaining about the same things over and over.

Surely if you read all the other threads why do people feel the need to add a new one

IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM contact GR direct, if they do not reply just keep bombarding them with emails it costs you nothing and they will eventually get so fed up that you will get an answer.

Me I have only ever had to contact GR a few times and was contacted withing the 24 hrs they stated and my queries/problems were solved. But that was sometime ago.

If people are fed up with the site - LEAVE - its not the only site around. Just the cheapest...... Pay peanuts and you get monekys..... (think this post may be whooshed now) :-D

I agree.

It is very disheartening.

Must say I thought there would have been far more contributors to this thread.

Maybe they are all too busy starting their own threads on the 'New Tree' or other problems again and again to bother reading or if read making any comments.

Am I the only person who when looking at both the Chat boards am fed up with the constant barrage of threads about the same thing, complaining. I think in the last month or so that seems to be all that has been posted. Thus making the site very unappealing to even viist for more than a few minutes.

Complaining - whether it is about new layout or anything else - can be a good positive thing. How many who dislike complaints on here about the new tree would flame somebody in a supermarket complaining because their tin of coffee was a tin of soup.

In fact, I wonder what would have happened to these boards over last 4 weeks if Genes had not removed old tree option against the wishes of most of their paying clientele. Looking at dates of posts, these boards were already dying on their feet.

Many like me have come on and contributed for first time. And some of us have enjoyed it. No doubt it has disturbed some of the fluffy "love you Sandra" afficianados.

But it has given some experienced surf boarders a chance to show off their knowledge of the bored rules, their use of correct terminology and their faultless knowledge again and to flame us newbies and try to shut us up.

Some very interesting threads on chat, genealogy and suggestions, but even those now seem very slow indeed. At least Estelle is now contributing regularly, and I am very pleased about that. :-)

We have set up three new suggestions boards, state Genes today in the first thread stuck to top of page.

Where are they? :-S

They are there now John - you were too observant and caught the first one while they were creating the others ;-)

EDIT - unless I'm missing something, they are THREADS rather than the stated BOARDS

Hi John, I've added them now! I wanted to get the guidelines up first. We didn't want to add too many suggestions threads so I have limited it three right now. Members can still post their own suggestions individually.

Kind regards,

Estelle

"We will read every suggestion, but, much as we'd like to, we are unable to guarantee a reply to each and every post.. Once a suggestion has been acted on by us then we will remove the thread. "

Why not just close the thread rather than remove it ?

Does the fact that GR Team will read the 3 new threads mean they totally ignore all previous good suggestions

Genes

Hi Glitterbaby,

we will still make a point of reading all posts on this board, not just the ones we have started. But we can't guarantee that we can reply to every single post.

We will consider your suggesting of just locking a thread rather than removing it.

Kind regards,

Estelle

Are you wanting a ban then Roy :-D

- why remove it? Previously, when a thread has been actioned, ACTIONED has been added and the thread has been locked, one example being http://www.genesreunited.co.za/boards/board/suggestions/thread/1267253
