Community Manager Advisor Report 21 Jan 2014 16:32

Hi Willow,

We are aware that there are limitations on the size of tree which can be printed. The next version will not have full tree printing, but tree printing is a focus and will be revisited.

Shelley

Hi BarryA,

Searching names shouldn't be case sensitive. If you are experiencing this please email [email protected]

Shelley

Why when you are searching names in your tree or others it is case sensitive to find people?

When will it be possible to print Trees ? It must be a year since the "Whoops cannot print your Tree " info came up when the Print button was used.
On the old Tree format, sections could be highlighted and printed. I did this on several sheets of A4 and put them together to form my complete Tree.

I found the old Tree easier to use and dislike the male and female heads. Pink and blue boxes were neater.

Because our Trees are social history it would be great to have space in each box to add the relatives occupation.

Hi Barry,

The new tree will not be introducing a new print feature. We are currently working on a new tree which will enable users to build more than one tree within the same account (and upload multiple GEDCOMs).

Shelley

Since the 'new' tree my late husband is connected to his mother and her predecessors, his sister is connected to his father and his predecessors, his parents aren't connected at all. Everything was okay before the change over. I have to keep jumping about my tree to find info. This had happened to three people in my tree. I asked GR if they knew why this had happened but I didn't get a reply. I tried to sort it out myself but its too much work to delete all their relatives and re-enter them to try and connect them as they should be.

Whoa!!!!

Working on a new tree??

Can you please not just bring back the original "old" tree that members seemed to be happy with?

To Community Mamager

True to form, you haven't addressed any of my questions in my previous post
I would have thought, with the introduction of a new Community Manager that things would have changed for the better but it seems we are just getting more of the same

Have you given up on the "swanky new print feature" we were promised a long time ago?

Are you in fact working on a completely new tree ?

What does one have to do to get a straight answer?

As I have said. before, I despair

Thanks Keith for your support and you are right about Ancestry - they are always appreciative of any any comments/suggestions /corrections as opposed to the management on this site who have developed fobbing off to a fine art

Keith

Couldn't agree more with all you say Barry. I joined the site on 1st Aug 2004, and have not touched my large tree since the big upheaval in August 2012. I only stay because I have a large number of sharers, and still get a number of contacts.
Use Ancestry.co.uk, and they even give you a polite thank you when you correct some of their records.
Regards'
Keith.

To Genes
Do I understand that the "swanky new print feature" is now dead in the water and that you are working on a completely new tree ?
As I have said before , there was nothing wrong with the old print feature so why "mend" something that wasn't broken and I think the same applies to the "old" tree
The way this site has been managed over the last 2/3 years beggars belief

Hi Barry,

We realise the limitations with printing. We are working on the new tree, but there will not be the scope to print the capacity which you have described.

You are correct regarding the pricing on MyHistory, which we promote as they offer an excellent service to customers and a 10% discount to Genes members. Members are, however, able to use their preferred service.

The team are busy working on a new tree, which we will be able to update you on soon.

Shelley

SylviaInCanada

actually ....................

there is a posting from GR somewhere on these Boards (probably this one) that basically says ...........

........... the old tree will NOT be returned.

it is the "NEW" tree they are working on.

But, as IGP has often said .................... everyone complained about the old tree when it was first introduced

PricklyHolly

PricklyHolly Report 15 Dec 2013 12:49

All these complaints about the "New" tree.........and yet we still have it!

"We take all suggestions on board. It's great to get feedback from the users, comments are passed on to the tech team." :-S

I have given up on my tree on here. It is a complete and total waste of time.

There was a time i would recommend this site to anyone and everyone who was looking to build their family tree............
