Could we "like" other folks posts (like on other sites).

It'd be interesting to see what was liked most....

Oh Dear :-(

The tree was working fine for me until about 17:30 (UK time).

I was adding some new people and then things started to go haywire.
Would not save, locked out, error 404, tree load just hangs......
If I do get into the tree, the moment I try to navigate through it, I get an error.

Feels like there are just not enough servers to deal with demand.

What a shame. And I am in the process of adding more people to my tree today then I added in the whole of 2012 having just had a "breakthrough".

I too will be keen to export my Gedcom once I have finished making all the changes.

Hi Joy, the problem was not with the tree itself. The problem was with one of our servers. So the tree V3.3.3 would work for some people if they were directed to a different server.

Kind regards,

Estelle

A paying customer posted in the site how to get into the tree without seeing the error message or "Please wait ...".

As a customer could do this, why could GR not do it, please?

Thanks for that update, the ability to Import/Export our tree is very important, not least to be able to have a back up to fall back on.

The tree itself is working very well now, and whatever you have done it seems to load a lot quicker when moving around it.

Hi James, we are looking at the gedcom problem this morning. So hopefully it should be fixed soon. Sorry it has taken a while to get this working again.

Thank you for that update, I now have access to my tree, any news on when we will be able to use the Export/Import a Gedcom file function?

Genes

Genes Advisor Report 2 Jan 2013 11:10

We are really sorry you have been unable to access to your tree. We had some problems with one of our servers. We have now fixed this and you should be able to access your tree again.

'If you go to open your tree, it will open a new window. Click in the URL and change the 3.3.3 to 3.3.1 and press enter, this works for me'

It works for me too

Getting exactly the same messages that Joy was getting on the 27th December - been trying to simply access my tree and /or relatives for ages - I am way past caring what the tree looks like -I simply want it to work - this site is simply a waste of my money and I will not renew again unless it is greatly improved - I have no problems on Ancestry at all simply log in and use so it is nothing to do do with my computer or any system I use ! :-( :-( :-(

Ken, Error 503 does not always appear. Sometimes it just goes whizzing round and round and round with just "Please wait...".

Time and patience run out.

KenSE Report 1 Jan 2013 23:10

Once you get the Error 503, your browser may cache that so you get it again. It can be worth trying F5 or CTRL F5 to refresh the display. I have found that has worked for me this evening.

I think the 503 results from a timeout which is happening because so many are using the site and the server capacity cannot cope.

Wonder if we can get a refund of our subscription..seems a waste of money if we can't work on our trees????????

If I could get into my tree at all would be something!
Does anyone think that Genes takes any notice of members' opinions about the trees?

The tree is not available, and has been functioning only intermittently for quite a while now, certainly recently since the apology from GR on 21st December , and importing a GEDCOM is not possible currently.
