If you get a new computer anytime soon and for sure firther into 2013 it will probably come with Windows8 (Metro) and the "tile" interface. So far this has been even less popular than Vista.

Here is an application which ensure that Win8 runs just like Windows7, though you can still run tile apps if and when you need to. FREE. You will need access to a Win7 disk though not a license.
