Hi - I am now having trouble with getting the names to come up on GR. When I click on Search and put the names on I want to see it will not come up at all. Any suggestions please.

Regards
Effie

Effie,

Try just searching for the person's surname. You should then get a list of all of the 'Smiths' (or whoever), from which you then need to click on the actual person you are looking for.

I have had the same problem you describe. It's another irritation of the now not-so new tree.

What exactly is it you are trying to search for? There are over a dozen different searches you an do across the entire site.

Can you be more specific?

To search in one's own tree for an individual you don't get any responce if you type in the full name - weekend somebody PMd me a question and to find the person they were asking about in my tree I had to type in Stones which brought up all the Stones. It was from that list I found the correct person.

:-D :-D :-D :-D

Sometimes it works if you type a space at the end of the first name in the search box.

I don't see this as a Suggestion for GR

If it is .....................

what is the Suggestion???????

In any case, GR rarely responds on here. It is not even sure how often they read any of the threads, so they possibly / probably never ever see problems

It would be much better to contact Support, either by pm through the site or by email

Hopefully, that will lead to some sort of solution, or suggestion from them. And not from members reporting how they themselves have found resolutions to the problem.

My suggestion is that GR get this sorted asap.

I tried some searches using firstnames this morning. Some gave a result some didn't.

It seems that the first time a particular search is done, it takes half a minute or so to decide whether it can find the person or not. Subsequently, if it found the person eventually the first time, exactly the same search will produce an instantaneous result later.

Searching for myself on my tree it eventually found me (in separate searches) using kenneth, ken and ke as firstname, but not as k.
