Dropped them a line regarding the search trees and save problems and had a reply that said they were aware of these issues and were in the process of fixing them. Hopefully the problems will soon be resolved!

Did GR not say somewhere that there was a bug with the tree's name search facility they are looking into?

grannyfranny, I understand about the prompt, i'm just saying that GR have improved the new tree in recent weeks with regard to the save button,

before you could not see it unless you where adding info to the notes at the bottom of the details panel but now it is always visible.

If you also would like a "prompt" then as I suggested to Bill contact GR directly and tell them your problem and how you would like them to resolve it,

You could also post your suggestion on the thread (Suggestions: TREE) stickied at the top of this board

But on the old tree, if you didn't 'save' and tried to move on to another entry, there was a prompt message to save or cancel. It was very useful.

Bill, your not alone but GR have changed where the save button is on the details panel,

When they first introduced the new version of the tree the save button was only visable when you scrolled to the very bottom of the details panel,

The save button is now visabe all the time now when the details panel is open
so a definite improvement

Roy,
I'm using the search trees on the right hand side of the page. I have a large tree and the 'List' takes ages to load so I tend not to use it. My issue with the search trees is that I either have to enter just a surname and get a whole list of people to trawl through or a full name and date of birth and just get one person. I preferred the old search where I entered a full name and got a shorter list of just the people with that name. Plus if I chose the wrong person from the list, when I went back to search tree the original name had been retained and I could look at another person without having to retype their name. I guess the new search tree is just a 'feature'of the new improved tree!
I will contact GR regarding the lack of a 'Save' prompt if you leave a persons details pane without saving. I'm always doing it and its a pain to have to re-enter my notes all over again - I can't be the only person who does this can I?
Thanks
Bill

William, You don't say which search you are using?
Is it the search trees on the right of the page or the search relatives under the "list" tab

If you click on List, Then as you start to type in the search relations box, the list will start to bring the name your typing to the top of the list as you type.

For problems with your tree function you need to contact GR directly, these are the community boards this the suggestions board is for changes you would like to see made to Genes Reunited and it's unlikely your thread/problem will be seen by the relevant GR member of staff, use the contact us under the Help tab at the top of this page.

Why do I get no matches shown when I type a person’s full name in the search box on my tree? If I add a DOB it can find them but otherwise I get the ‘No matches found’ message. I realise that by typing just a surname I can get a list of everyone in that family but with a large tree it can take a lot of scrolling to get to who I want. Furthermore on the old tree it retained the name in the search box so that you did not have to re-enter the details for another search. This made life much easier and it would be helpful if feature was re-instated
Also, when I enter information in a person’s details pane I sometimes forget to save before moving on to another person and my changes are then lost and I have to re-enter the information. Would it be possible to modify the program such that it either saves changes by default or prompts you to save when you leave that persons profile?
