The reason a new thread was started namelessone.was because if eponymic doesn't like they way the thread is going he can delete it

I would think the majority of the 13 million plus members have never paid to use this site.....so why would they care whether they tell GR or not if they change their email address?

If you say so. but to my mind your query is partly covered in that thread.

I think the 'no longer showing' thread was by one of the Grahams.

You state "I was given to understand that all persons you have on site are contactable" . Where have you been told that?

I assume you want Genes to show who is currently active - this has been brought up a number of times. Lots of members will tell you that they do not log off, therefore they would be showing as not active as the last log in was so long ago.
It is only users that no longer have the email address recorded by Genes that are uncontactable. Surely it is not Genes responsibility to ensure that anyone not using the site anymore keep them up to date with their details!

Why start a new thread when this one is only a couple of threads down the board . www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards/board/suggestions/thread/1337785

The OP here is really a continuation of eponymic's postings on there.

From GR's terms & conditions, under Section 2 "Genes Reunited's Role" they say

"you acknowledge that we are not and cannot be responsible for the material provided by members whether on the Genes Reunited Service or outside of it"

I would take that to include the sharing of information.

hmmmmmmmmmmm

I think that is the message that was sent TO Shelley, not Shelley's reply

It actually makes even less sense than many of GR's messages :-)

Not even GR can contact the other world ..................... unless they have a clairvoyant on staff :-)

Nor can they contact all those members who have changed their email addresses but have not notified GR ................... so all messages sent to them are floating somewhere out there in the wide blue yonder

Nor can they force anyone to reply if that person does not want to reply ............. for whatever reason.

Wow they are brilliant

I know that there are several trees on here that are held by people who have died and are not being updated etc., by any relatives.

So if GR can contact them, could they please ask my g/grandfather to contact me as I have so many questions that only he could answer or even his father if George is unavailable :-D

I was given to understand that all persons you have on site are contactable, if it is the case by your understanding that members who may no longer active on the site. It is your responsibility to enable those attempting to make contact by indicating in some manner against individual members beforehand so that the option to attempt to make contact is feasible this will provide an informed basis to work from.
