Mike. The Leicester Lad.(GC) Report 21 Apr 2008 22:59

Greeting’s again….. Suz…….

Bearing in mind that the latest Census we can view at present is 1901…….
Therefore we’ll not be able to view when Henry & Margaret are living together.

But I’ve found the following :~

Starting with Birth of Terrence Nunn. C 1915.

Birth Index Record from G.R.O. site.

Jul.~ Aug.~ Sept. Qrt. 1915.

Terrence Nunn.

Basford District. Nott’s
Cert No. 7b. 428.

Mother’s maiden name. = Hadican.

Main Details I’ve gained from 1901 ~ 1871 Census returns :~

Henry Ernest J. Nunn. Blacksmith. Born 1866.East Markham Nott’s
Parents :~ Charles & Charlotte

Margaret Agnes Hadican. School Mistress. Born 1877. Ilkeston.
Parents:~ James & Catherine ( Both born in Ireland. )

MARRIAGE. :~

Jul. ~ Aug. ~ Sep. Qrt. 1907.

Henry Ernest J Nunn. ~ Margaret Agnes Hadican.
Basford District.
Cert No. 7b. 424.

The above Marriage I believe could well be Henry's second marriage.
The 1901. Census returns showed Henry married to a wife named Eugenie.

Was this the type of information you required ?

Hi Mike AKA smart man in the newspaper

Would you have a look at a marriage for me if poss. Only want you to check St George's to see if my lot are running true to form!

2 Apr 1934
Doris Ward and Frank Lyner

Woud be a bonus and then maybe I can confirm Doris's age as the family told me 1906 and it looks like she was born 1903.
Thanks
Elaine

Greeting’s again Suz……

I asked at the Records Office with ref to your Rev'd Terrance H. Nunn
If he had been a Church of England Minister then he would have been in Croockfords Registry for members of the C of E.

They tell me that the Roman Catholic’s do not have a such Registry.

You might get lucky by trawling the Electoral Rolls for Derbyshire.

To my trustees I desire that my son Maynard Ward when he leaves Desford School, shall be Apprenticed to a trade and also properly clothed for the same...

am I right in assuming it was the industrial school being referred to?

Hi Mike

Thanks very much for looking for the marriage of Peter Smith and Hannah Betts, it does help but I would have been absolutely overjoyed if the Father's names had been recorded, especially for Peter Smith, Smith being such a terrible name to research.

Thanks again

Regards
Kathleen

Greeting’s again. …….. Elaine.

Sorry NO Ward Marriage for 1934. @ St. George’s ……

I know you said not to widen the search But………

Tried
St, John the Divine. ( Close to St. Georges )
St. Luke’s.
St. Mathew’s.
St. Martin’s.
All Saint’s.
St. Nicolas.

The only Ward Marriage 1934.2nd Qrt. to match G.R.O. ref. I could find :~

St. Margaret’s Parish Church.
Page.209.
Entry. Mo. 418.

February 17th. 1934.

John Frederick MALSBURY.20. Bachelor. Shoe Hand.
50. Benford Street..
Father :~ Joseph Malsbury. Railway Worker.

Phyllis WARD. 21. Spinster. Elastic Hand.
53. Lower Church-gate.
Father. :~ Thomas Ward. Pensioner.

By Banns. By Me :~ K. Parsons.
Both signed the register by own signatures.

Wit’s :~ Winifred Brown. Thomas Ward.

With regards to your other Question I read it to mean
That when Maynard Ward became older enough to leave
The Education School
Then my trustees use funds put aside to buy him into an Apprenticeship
In a trade of his choice
and to use funds to both clothe him & to buy the necessary tools to allow him to carry out that Occupation.

I’m still trawling Parishes re:~ Scotton for your friend Jean.

Hi Mike

Thank you for looking. About Desford, what I mean is, is it likely that the reference to Desford means he has been sent to the industrial school there. I don't know of any other reason for him to be there and wondered if you knew of any other school/reason he could be there.

If so it look like 2 cousins were there at the same time!!!

Oh that industrial school…….
in Newtown Unthank.

I knew it as Polebrook House when I delivered milk there.

It’s now a retirement Village….( Kirby Grange )

If you goggle….. " Polebrook House "
there is a bit about it along with a photo.
