Hi Mike,

Do you have Barlestone burials on your discs?

If so, could you check out John Pool, who died in 1803?

I'm hoping it'll give his age (should be about 56 if it's the person I'm looking for).

I'm also looking for the death of his wife Rebecca, born c. 1753. She will have died between about 1785 and 1802, but as I don't know the exact date, please don't waste time looking for her at the Records Office if you don't have them on disc.

Re :~ Your question regarding missing off Lodgers / Boarder on Census returns.

YES….this was usual. …… think about it ? …….
If the Head of the Household has not declared the income from theses
Lodgers / Boards to the Tax man. ……
Then by including them on the Census returns he would be in big trouble……..

Hi Mike,

Thanks very much for looking.

Could you confirm whether that 1902 date is actually correct, and not a typo for 1802?

I'm looking for a John Pool(e), butcher of Barlestone, who died between 27/8/1802 and sometime in 1803.

MaryfromItaly

MaryfromItaly Report 3 Sep 2008 13:51

Ah, great, thanks very much, Mike - that's what I was hoping.

I thought it was unlikely that there were two butchers in Barlestone called John Pool, but there are several children mentioned in the will I found at Wigston who I haven't found on the IGI, so I thought there might be two of them.

Now I know it's the right person, I'll have another look in neighbouring parishes.

MaryfromItaly

MaryfromItaly Report 3 Sep 2008 14:33

Hm. Still doubtful.

The 1802 will refers to a deceased son of John Pool called Stephen Pool, who left 3 children. I originally thought this must be the Stephen Pool whose burial you found in 1791, but as the entry lists his parents' names (John and Elizabeth), I assume he was a child - unless it was the practice of the Barlestone vicar to list the parents' names of adults buried?

If this Stephen is the son of the John who left the will, that John probably isn't mine, because his wife was Rebecca, and he was a bachelor when they got married in 1775. To be old enough to have 3 children by 1802, Stephen must have been born no later than about 1784, and Rebecca was still alive then.

Have you got people in Barlestone and Nailstone too, Elaine? I wonder if we're related?

Mine are Pool(e), Fowkes and Sutton so far.

Hi

Hope someone can help with this query.

I am looking for the parents of Timothy Jennings born about 1813 in Hinckley - he married a Mary ? from Stoke Golding.

Timothy seems to be the family christian name as there is a Timothy b 1840 and one born in 1870 both in Hinckley.

Any help on this would be much appreciated.
