Hi Rachel......ok..you say that Catherine Lister (Margerison) did a runner from her child(ren)..........are you sure??

I foun John W in Woolley Bridge in 1911...living with the Dodds..

I have since found Alice Dodd nee MARGERISON...the same lady as above..because both she and her husband John H came from Kendal in Cumberland...and i have found a whole family of Margerison up there.

So if I've got it right John W is the son of John and catherine???? then John senior is Alice's brother.......but I can't find him yet.
The reason I ask you if you're sure about Catherione's disappearance is that i have also found John W living in 1891 with another aunt and uncle..the TOWER'S..WILLIAM and ELIZABETH...and Elizabeth is ALice's sister!!!

John W was two years old..are you sure that Catherine didn't just die?? like in childboirth. or just after???

Rachel, didn't we sort out the Margerison's between us? EEh I forget!

Derek, wot's this about a broken ankle, you never said nuffink about it! I'd have sent you a bottle of malt if I had known.

Now malt is that brown stuff that purports to be called whisky. You're probably not familiar with it.

Love

Hi Derek

Sorry to hear about the ankle sounds agony!

John W is the child of my gt Grandmother Catherine married to John Margerison Woolley Bridge I have managed to get some info from another GR member about Catherine's children :)
Would love to see baptism info etc if its available as further evidence as this is the family she left :(
Thanks Derek

Hello Rachel..to be honjest I'm struggling because the hayfield Records i have are very skietchy..and I csan't get to the matlock Records Office with a broken ankle......

However I had a look at the 1911 Census...and found what might be a snippet..even a Margerison!!

JOHN W MARGERISON born Padfield (same area as Hayfield Glossop)..aged 22 living with his Uncle and Aunt at Wooley Bridge in Cheshire....just over the border....

Their names wereJOHN H DODD and ALICE DODD 65 and 64 respectively..married 43 years...........which means that Alice must have been a Margerison with a brother who was John W's Father.......

I'll keep sniffing around!!

I've sent a pm to Rachel as it seems she's wanting to trace the Margerison's after Catherine left. Might be better if she had a separate thread on Trying to Find.

Just to advise others (not Derek of course, I wouldn't dare!), the Hayfield District, despite Hayfield being a tiny village, covered Glossop, which is where the Margerisons seem to be from (sort of).
