Hi Bob,
So sorry to just get back to answering your message it shows you how long it is since I was checking my messages with Gene's, sometimes you feel like you are
knocking on doors that don't ever open.Could you tell me anything more about
Meggie Bromley, I have a G Uncle Alexander Maughan who married and went to
America and I had some research done on them and one of his daughters is down as Meggie short I would think for Margaret. My mam and her mam always
got " Maffin " yet some of her sisters and brother got Maughan, also on family Census in America the name in the early years is Maffin then changes to Maughan. The name on some of the paper work and certificates has gone through lots of changes the name was McMahon when they came from Ireland then Maffin ( I have a G Uncle burried under that name ) Maugham, McMaughan, ended up with the Maughan spelling but there has been lots of other tries at it to.So what area does the " Bromleys " come from. Hoping to hear more about Meggie and who she married if you feel like letting me know Bob.
Sorry again for not getting back to you sooner
Jane.
Jane.

Hi Reggie,
Thanks for all the information very appreciated.
Sorry about wrong information on Vera Constance Maughan I should have put
her D.O.B as 1920, and her marriage was 27th September 1941 to Thomas
Jones at The Parish Church of St. Lawrence. Which is all the information I was
given by someone who got in-touch with me trying to find family.
Thanks for your help I feel it is not the same Maughan family as mine, not unless
anyone came over from Ireland with my gg grand-dad that I don't know about and
settled other then in County Durham.
Many thanks
Jane.

I doubt very much that she married at the age of two

When you sort out the dates..............do some research

Find the marriage of her parents by using freebmd..................you don't need anyone else to do that for you

Then find the births of Vera's four siblings on the same site

Hi Reggie,
It was a mistake on my behalf as i received a message from Sally stating she was trying
to help a grand daughter trace her grandfather and he was a Mitchison and wondered if
it might be connected to my family of Michison and asked me for some details, and i got
my paper work out and sent the info on my g aunt Jane Mitchison nee Maughan and family.
As i put on my sheet the name is Mitcheson and i do think that was a mistake, i said that was all the info i had on them, but later i got my family files out and looked back to see if
i had any marriage lines which i did'nt have but found another page with the info i sent you.
I suppose i did'nt realise at the time that Sally was a researcher so trying to be helpful for
some one else i asked if there was anyone could help me with info and then when i went
back to my family sheets found that i had more then i thought. But what you have sent me
will be kept and looked at i never get rid of any family info because theres always some that
you notice and havn't got. Was it the same family as mine as i never did find out?
Thanks for what you sent to me.
Jane.

So.......is the info I posted of any use?

Or have I wasted my time?

Why did you ask about Charles's family when you already had the info?

Jane

Jane Report 23 Sep 2013 22:00

Sorry made a mistake this g aunt Jane was born in Langley, County Durham,
and not Ireland, it was my gg aunt Jane who was born in Ireland.

Hi Reggie,
Just been looking back through some paper work and as you say a correct
spelling of a name helps, but thats how the researcher put it ,but i am sure
it is with an i and not an e, but i have just got my sheet which i got for the 1911
census and they have Charles and Jane down as Mitchinson so even they can
get things different. My dad would have known but he is no longer here.
Jane.

1881 census is FREE............................so you can look for the info yourself..............much more fun

https://familysearch.org/

And, as you have the exact marriage date, one assumes you must have the cert...............on which their fathers will be named (if they knew them)
