Thanks for trying to help me as after getting the information on my Great Uncle
Alexander it seemed to dry up on the rest of my family, my GG Grandfather is
down as a labourer on the baptism, but after moving to County Durham worked
for Lord Londonderry in the mines, they came about 1849 I think. Can't find
anything out about my GG Grandmother who is down as Elizabeth ( MacKnight )
but know that the name McKnight prominent in Newtownards which is not far from Comber, her name on the baptism is down as Eliza then after coming to England on the Census as Elizabeth but notice on her burial stone in Herrington
my GG Grandfather Robert has reverted back to Eliza. Any help would be greatly appreciated because of the name change it has made it bit difficult. Is it
part of your family, thanks very much Jane.

Hi,
The only proof I have is that Alexander my Great Uncle was baptised in the
Comber Church of Ireland which took place on the 14th February 1836,
his parents are down as Eliza and Robert McMahon ( Maughan ). I was always
told that they were prodestants by my Grandmother G. Maughan, so can only
take this as been correct. The name change seems to have come when they
were featured on the 1871 English Census.
Thanks
Jane.

Trying to find out more information on my GG Grandfather Robert Maughan born about 1817/20 in Comber, Ireland, my G Grandfather
Thomas Maughan also born in Comber, Ireland about 1842 there
siblings born in Ireland, Alexander, Robert, Henry and Jane, the rest
of the siblings born in villages in County Durham. My Gg Grandmother
was Elizabeth ( Eliza ) MacKnight who I think would be also born in
Ireland, there family name in Comber is known as McMahon. Thanks Jane .
