I wonder if this is connected from 1911 census

MILITARY ALDERSON THOMAS WILLIAM 1890 21 Overseas Military
I wonder if this is your grandfather

why ? newly weds with their first born were not living together! It is just a thought that maybe Thomas was overseas and t hat is why your grandmother was living with her parents. Just trying to look from a different angle. What do people think? I think this needs further investigation maybe he died overseas.

How sure are you that the 1911 census you have is your grandfather?

Jooleh

Jooleh Report 16 Mar 2011 22:43

Corrinne, that crossed my mind too. I guess we will have to wait for Margaret to give us the address from the marriage cert. If his address is 3 Bowden yard then that clinches it.

What is the birth place of the 21 year old Thomas?

I looked at several WW1 records last week but none really matched the info that Margaret has given.

I feel a bit slow!

Hello Margaret.
Hurray!!!! great to see that you have the right Thomas William Alderson, I was a bit worried that you hadn,t as he is proving to be diffficult to find dead or alive after 1911.
Did you manage to order the death certificate for ada in blackpool?

I will now see if anything new comes to light but it is like looking for a needle in a haystack.

The death looks interesting..... Dec. 1916
Sarah Jane Alderson had 2 children, born to Joseph Thurlby before her marriage to him in 1918. Rachel born 1916 and John 1917.

Edit; The age is not correct . Thomas is shown as being 23 in 1911 ????

Thank you all. Can't wait for the certs. every thing crossed.

Margaret

Corrinne Report 17 Mar 2011 21:17

mmmmm I do wonder if John William Alderson is the son of Thomas and Sarah Jane before they married. The more I look at it the more I am convinced it is their son.

Please do not omit the death for Dec 1916 it is only out by 2 years if the informant wasn,t sure of Thomas's details then it may indeed be him.

Anyway have a nice time away, fingers and everything else crossed for the arrival of those certificates I bet you can,t wait.

Madmeg

Madmeg Report 18 Mar 2011 16:27

Corinne, why do you think little John William is their son? Isn't he more likely the son of one of the daughters - e.g. Mary Jane. Sarah Jane would have been only 15 in 1907. Mary Jane was not living at home in 1901, so in 1907 she could have been working in Waterhouses.

Margaret, I think you will have to contact the office that now has the records for Lanchester. Kay gave you some details earlier, but according to me this is the current details:

The Register Office, Cockton House, 35 Cockton Hill Road, Bishop Auckland, DL14 6HS.
Tel: 01388 607277

E-mail: [email protected]

Tell them you believe the family have the wrong birthdate, that you believe she was born around July 1910 in Lanchester, and give her parents' names. They won't confirm anything definite without you paying the fee, but will usually make sure it is likely the right certificate first.

Oh, Margaret, I am SOOOOH delighted for you. I really am. I'm shedding little tears as I type this.

So, there's those possible half-siblings I pmd to you a while ago, and a grandson (though he might be John Jones's grandson, not Ada's).

C'mon girls, let's find these people for Margaret. Don't forget to pm anything about living people.

Margaret, you've gotta contact the registrars re Ada's birth cert.

I'm so very pleased for you Margaret.

Well done madmeg (by the way some of us girls are chaps! lol)

According to mouseprice, the address Dara gives as his on the death cert was last sold in December 2001, so he could still be living there, is anyone offering electoral roll searches at the moment?

Madmeg

Madmeg Report 19 Mar 2011 19:21

Sorry Tempest, your board name gives nothing away!

Don't know about electoral roll searches, Wayne Tracey is otherwise occupied. I'll post a thread.

Can't find EDIT the Informant, must be a nickname or short-form of something.

Yep, 192 has him 2002-2007. Other occupants' names mean nothing as yet.

Will PM Margaret.

Madmeg

Madmeg Report 19 Mar 2011 20:04

EDIT - he is a competitive cyclist. He is on Facebook and several google searches, so I'm not really giving away any secrets about him. But I can't find a birth for him. And no marriage between an A****** and a Barker.
