However, it's her life after 1952 which is in question................

It doesn't appear that either marriage produced any offspring............

Why must there have been a divorce?

Soper could have died.......unless you have the cert of the second marriage and it says that the first marriage had been dissolved

Have you looked for info using freebmd?

She must have lived with him pre marriage

i have not got any furthr with this thread. is there anywhere to find records of divorces as she must have divorced soper to marry gabathuler.

You should be able to check for any children on www.freebmd.org.uk

There does not appear to be a death for him, either, so death in another country, or change of name looks likely.

There is a patent applied for by a Ferdinand Gabathuler in Switzerland in 1989.
I am not suggesting the 2 are the same, just extra information.

she may also have gone by the name Mugford as some of the sisters did when it suited them...
Dont know what nationality he was so i suppose she could have died outside the uk?

The only possible death I can see in 1967 would be this one (do you think they could have shortened the surname to make it sound more English):-

Clarice was the 6th child of Mabel Westaway and William Henry Mugford. I have a marriage for her to William Soper in Totnes 1935, a marriage to Ferdinand (Freddie) Gabathuler in 1953 in Marylbone, London. I have a photo with her date of death as 16th April 1967 but have been unable to find any record. Also if she had any children. I understand that Freddie was a ' foreign chef '.
