Not sure what it says about someone who has enough time to spend on line to discover this sort of rubbish :-D

I do believe.
When i was 14 my sister was born, this was 1961.We lived in Willesden London and shared the house with my nan and 2 uncles. Our family lived upstairs and had 1 large bedroom and a tiny box room which was my brothers. So my mum and dad me and infant sister shared the other room.
As there was little room my sister slept in her pram by the side of my mum.We woke one morning to find a trail of water leading from the bottom of my bed to the pram.My sister and her bedding were dry but when we removed the the mattress and the bottom base of the pram the well inside was full of water.
Also a different time,my nan always used stone hot water bottles and no one in the house ever used a rubber one.We again woke to find a rubber hot water bottle at the base of my mums bed.

In 2010 my son was in hospital and we knew he did'nt have long to live .
My eldest son went to the car park to see his children briefly and when he came back he looked very confused.I asked what was wrong and he said he had seen his aunty Pat who had passed away 6 years earlier. My son who saw this is the most level headed person i have ever known,he never worries he is logical and always says get the facts first dont worry till you kow the facts .I and the family are convinced my son's aunt came for him as he passed away a few hours later.

I will always believe and take comfort from the fact that a family member came for my son.I am not a religiouse person but i do believe there is life after death ,i don't think i could cope with my son's passing if i thought i would never see him again.
It would be great if someone could explain what happened when my sister was little and would love to know if the people that live there now have ever experianced anything.

I have seen and been aware of "whatever they are" since I was a child. I learned early NOT to say anything; my father would shout at me, say I had an overactive imagination (but he always told his kids we were stupid).

I have no control over this, not sure if I want to.

Most people don't want to know, and I don't want to upset anyone.

"Not sure what it says about someone who has enough time to spend on line to discover this sort of rubbish"

A few minutes wasted, free of charge and it makes me laugh ;-)

Not sure what going to seances, visiting mediums, having their cards read........ spending ridiculous amounts of money listening to mumbo jumbo says about a person :-D

Both my daughters often hear footsteps on their stairs at night,
One of my daughters visited a medium who told her that my mother visits them both and also checks on my grandsons while they are asleep.

One daughter lived in a really 'active' house,, it was quite uncomfortable at times.

Eldrick Report 20 Mar 2012 10:14

woo hoo, a ghost thread!

Theres no such thing, in the same way as theres no such thing as psychic powers, talking to spirits, santa clause, tooth fairies, unicorns and tarot card readers.

However, I would say this. Sceptics like me are always accused of not being open minded. To the contrary, what a wonderful day it would be for mankind if someone was to put their money where their mouth is and allow themselves to be scientifically tested for their abilities or to capture some evidence of a ghost. But they don't and they won't. And that can lead to only one conclusion - they dont have any powers to test. So - its not me being close minded - its the believers who refuse totally to countenance the possibility that these claims are nonsense, that ghosts arent explained by natural causes or misinterpretation of senses.
Believers are indulging in magical uncritical thinking and suspending disbelief.

You see, what can be claimed without evidence can be summarily dismissed. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and anecdotal evidence is NOT evidence! As any court in the world will tell you, eye witnesses are the worst witnesses. Take away anecdotal evidence of these claims, and nothing remains. Nothing at all. Unless you are naive enough to fall for the cold reading methods of 'psychics', all of whom have been busted so many times it's too boring for words. The debate over psychic powers is over, done and dusted. No one has them and anyone who claims they do will have to show some evidence other than seeing the figure of their grandad at the foot of their bed in the middle of the night or getting a message from Auntie Kath saying she is in heaven with all her puppy dogs and kittens and she loves you all.

But I love debating it! :-D

Winnie - sometimes it's a curse. Nothing happens for ages, then WHAMMO!

Eldrick - I would NEVER set myself up as a psychic, and I don't tell people what I "receive" (for want of a better word)......... but I had to tell my cousin where his father had hidden something, because he wouldn't stop pestering me until I did!

I don't use Tarot cards, I don't read palms, I don't tell fortunes.

If I had any control over this "gift", I would talk to my grandad. <3 <3 <3

Scozzie

If you really believe you have some power, then you are morally bound to prove this to the world. There are research institutions that would give their right hands to study a gift that you claim. And you could always take the JREF One Million Dollar award and donate it to charity if you didnt want to keep it to yourself.

How exciting and fantastic and amazing it would be to be able to silence all the sceptics and critics, not to mention receiving a Nobel prize.

You wouldn't have to perform to order, just talk to them to establish an acceptable protocol for the study. I cannot imagine anything more cool than being the first person in the world to show they have true paranormal powers. I dearly wish it was me!

Eldrick your tongue is going to poke a hole in your cheek :-D

People think it's a gift, more like a curse.

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 20 Mar 2012 22:56

well cash in on it then.

Actually, Im serious. If you genuinely have a gift, then it would be immoral not to share it with science. Don't you think so?

Eldrick

Eldrick Report 21 Mar 2012 07:33

They would come to you from far and wide. The first person in the world to have these powers studied would be the most important thing in science for hundreds of years - more important than Einsteins theory of relativity, it would blow Darwin clean out of the water, completely alter every religion ever invented, the results of it would be earth shattering and life changing for everyone on the planet.

How can you not advance the understanding of this phenomenon by co-operating with a proper study?

I confess to a sneaking, creeping doubt beginning to niggle away.......
