Hi i am trying to find out the names of the parents of my great grandmother sarah bennett - she was born roughly 1891 and married joseph perry in 1913. Have been told her father was a james bennett but i really want to know her mothers name.

Have you tried looking for her birth?

You haven't given any location info, so no-one can try to look for her in censuses

Her father was James (deceased) occupation, Carman

have been told so not 100% but sarah bennett was born roughly 1891 i think london, my nan her daughter was born in stepney and when she married joseph perry it was 24th nov 1913 in st john the evangelist tower hamlets. his dad was joseph william perry and her father was james bennett but i am not def 100% thats all i know about her. she had six or seven children too.

This may be family in C1901 in Mile End Old Town:
Elizabeth BENNETT, 50, widow, charwoman
Lizzie, dau, 18, shop asst
Jane, dau, 14
Sarah, dau, 11
All born Stepney.

In C1891, Elizabeth (39) was born Mile End, Lizzie (10) St George in East, Jane (3) in Shadwell and Sarah (1) in Stepney.

right. sounds like it could fit so ill have to get certs to confirm. i know most of my grandparents family and on were from london areas. This could turn into a very expensive hobby to find proof.

to look for children of Perry/ Bennett

it is possible that there are two seperate couples with those surnames as there are lots of children, some born St Georges so you would need to check whicjh ones may be the siblings to your grandmother.

Like i said it may be certs needed. my uncle did the family tree years back but unfortunately got it all wrong so i am strating from scratch - my def knowledge is my nan was sarah perry and her mother was sarah bennett who def married joseph perry.
