'If you go to open your tree, it will open a new window. Click in the URL and change the 3.3.3 to 3.3.1 and press enter, this works for me'

It works for me too.

Been getting Error 503 all day when trying to access my family tree, anyone else still experiencing this problem? :-(

I must have missed the humour - which is unusual for me. As I said, I was simply trying to help.

There are many of us who help on the boards who only work spasmodically on our trees, and then we keep to the most immediate of direct family lines. We also have our trees on other sites and offline.

Each to their own I guess.

It was said with a touch of humour.Of the 13,000 names I mentioned I have individually added all but 300 of them .

William Russell Jones.

So he was just being sarcastic then I take it Joy?

I was only trying to help - I remember when William first started to use the boards.

To be honest, I just cannot see why people have to mention the number of names they have in their tree, unless they are simply trying to impress one.

He's not a name collector, Cynthia; I can vouch for him :)

Cynthia

Cynthia Report 28 Dec 2012 20:57

Do I detect a note of sarcasm William or are you just a name collector?

William

William Report 28 Dec 2012 19:17

I've been looking for some advice Cynthia as I've been adding over 13,000 names to my tree!lol

Glad you're sort William. You sometimes have to play about with the details you put into the boxes in order to get a result.

eg.....don't always put the exact date of birth as others with him in their tree may be slightly out with their dates...always -/+ a couple of years.

Play about with the place of birth - put the county instead of the actual place.

A lot depends on what others, who share the same person as you, have put down in their facts.

Many thanks.I'm wondering why the gap should affect the search?

The truth is I'm having to use the on screen keyboard as l'm having problems with my ordinary one.

Well its certainly something to bear in mind.

Kense Report 28 Dec 2012 16:35

Are you putting a space at the end of the names?

If I do that there are no matches unless I remove the year, in which case there are 55.

William

William Report 28 Dec 2012 16:20

No I'm afraid not.The gremlins must be at work here,if I take the year 1935 out of the box,I only get 35 in total!I've got more than that in my own tree!

jax

jax Report 28 Dec 2012 16:06

Are you putting the surname in the first name box?

William

William Report 28 Dec 2012 15:56

I tried the same type of search using IE9 and with exactly the same 0 results.

I'm using Google Chrome browser.I can't find any named individual putting exact year only in the search.

I get the same as Jax -- that is 90 exact matches.

Could this be a compatability problem with your browser?

Would suggest you contact Support. If you use the "Contact Us" rather than just sending an email then it will "collect" your Operating System and Browser information which may help them to advise you.
