If the referred post does not contravene GR T&C

it is reinstated ....

always a good idea to copy any info posted

Hi

What happens to the referred posts? Do they get deleted by GR? Not that it really matters as I have copied the lookup information. Just curious I guess!

Regards,

Gillian

I'm nudging this because YET AGAIN someone has took it upon themselves to report threads on FA that have asked for Ancestry look ups.

What does it take to get it through to this person (these people)??

Elaine

Elaine Report 5 Jul 2013 11:47

All I want to do is find out about my Kelly's.,Whitfields.,Parrs.,Evans.,Aughneys.,Currans.,Birchalls.,Mahons.,Farringtons.,Rices.....

Please can we now go back to what GR was known for.....friendly,chatty people, helping us less experienced mortals to trace our family trees?
Please.
Elaine.

the problem is still around :-\ :-\

hence the need to keep this thread alive.

The "word" has been given by GR .........

............ but some people still seem to think they take precedence over GR

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 30 Jun 2013 23:14

Who says the problem doesn't exist anymore?

Renes

Renes Report 30 Jun 2013 22:50

IGP

Have you considered you also could move on...

As you do not agree with this thread ... dont post on it ..

Just ignore it and find another thread that you approve of and post on that

or start your own thread .... And state your point ...

it seems "simples"

This really is getting to be a set of brilliant solutions to a problem which, in all reality, doesn't exist any more.

Move on, there are far more important things to get sorted on here.

Typical! I'm no band member.

I referred your post because you rehashed an old argument which I thought had been sorted.

So I RR'd it to stop any more heated discussion on an old topic.

TheBlackKnight good point - don't let it worry you - nameslessone has joined the band wagon now - so very sad ;-) Wish there was a crying icon on here

So if I am on another site talking about GR in a good way they allow it, because they are confident & trust the members loyalty, I wish GR would feel the same way.

nameslessone

nameslessone Report 28 Jun 2013 13:35

Thank you RR - I am not worried. I felt it was important to state it was me.

Apart from that I agree with everything you've just said.

Rambling Report 28 Jun 2013 13:30

Don't worry about it namelessone, I was tempted to do it myself as this thread is an 'information only' one imo. not something that now needs debating. As per my comment on 30thMay

"It is so that members, new and old, are made aware of GR's stance on mentioning other sites ( free or paid) on these boards.

There was a good deal of confusion with some members believing it was against T & Cs to mention Ancestry at all for example, I asked admin to clarify and that is what they have done"

nameslessone

nameslessone Report 28 Jun 2013 13:24

It woz me - I did it.

I do not want the boards alight in the same way as they were over the last weekend so I did something I have never done before.

NanaSue, how is it a cheek to ask someone what research they have done themselves? A case in point, my own query on FA yesterday...it would have been a perfectly viable question if someone had asked it of me surely?

You are missing the point of this thread, it is NOT what I think or YOU think about mentioning other sites...it is what GR admin think!

It would be pointless for eg to add a London baptism from the LMA records without being able to tell the poster that the LMA records are on Ancestry, not here. How would that be a help if they wanted to continue their search for THEMSELVES ? It is that kind of HELP that is given here that makes GR the place so many choose to STAY even if they also have other subs. IMO.

It can be nudged as much as you like but it doesn't stop anybody reporting the mention of Ancestry on GR threads.

It is a commercial competitor to GR not a free site like BMD

Best is to not mention any name when helping just give the info you find.

Also I'm seen the wording from one of those supposed to be helping
How are you related to XXXX
How much have you researched yourself

I always think what a cheek
