WW2 records are not in the public domain

His proven next of kin can apply for them..................at a cost of £30. 00, and a wait of several months.

I know he died in Holland on 14 Nov 1944 aged 39. I think he was born in Shipley. He was in the Royal Engineers, number 475881. My wife (his cousin) was the last of the family to see him alive before he left England for the last time.
Could anyone help me with his service records and any medals he may have received.
