Hi all,

A friend of mine Teresa, who is not a member of this site ask me to add this just in case any one on here had relatives or was interest in.

The Cross bones Burial Ground
Borough, Southwark.

She is a bit of an expert when it comes to Burial grounds and the laws that go with them.

Hope this is of interests to someone.

Regards
Diane :-)

For anyone who is intrigued by the name

Do google the Cross Bones Graveyard is it an amazing story. And sadly yet again one that was nearly lost thanks to Southwark Council's planners, who seem to have no sense of the fantastic history and rich tapestry of the area.
:-D

Dazedconfused,

It is my understanding that my friend is going to speak in the houses of parliament shortly as Southwark are up to there old tricks again and trying to do something with the ground.

I just looked at different sites about Cross Bones Graveyard and I agree with DC it is an amazing place and I hope it continues to be maintained. I would love to go and visit it.

Southwark Council have a long history of allowing historic sites and buildings to be lost forever.

The London Eye Hospital
The Evelina Hospital
Carter Street Police Station
Victorian Delivery Office (SE17)

The top 2 even had their outer edifices listed, so they left the builings to rot, so in the end they had to be demolished.

Southwark Council is a disgrace....
