Do not know if the cheap offer is still available but it is worth registering as my offer came several weeks after I joined.

Why not have both.
Familytreemaker from Amazon £29.50 includes 6 months Ancestry.
I have FMP.com World for £42.52 a year, now on my second year.
This is NOT FMP .co.uk.

Hi Jacqueline

Sorry for not replying sooner, when I quoted "Ancestry" I meant that none of my friends are interested in family history. I do have an Ancestry Sub but was thinking about a change when the sub expires. Hence the question...!!

If you live close enough, check with your local library, some of them have Ancestry on line.

Hi Vera

Unfortunately I have not got anyone I know that does ancestry, but I think that's
an excellent way of doing things...!!

Do you know another researcher who would share the subs with you? I can't afford both so I have an Ancestry sub and someone else in my family has a sub with FMP and we do look ups for each other.

As said before a lot depends on what/where you are researching.

For me Ancestry with its extensive Lancashire (Liverpool) and London records has been invaluable.

But I too have subs to both.

It is really all down to what you want and and looking for. :-)

Look FMP......see what they offer, and decide which best suits your needs. You obviously know exactly what Ancestry can give you............

Have you tried taking out a free two week trial?

Just remember to cancel before the two weeks are up or you will be charged

I have both also...Ancestry are great for my London Ancestors and FMP has many other features that are not on ancestry

Depends what you are researching on, I find both have their good points so much so I have subs to both sites,

A bit expensive though.

As you have got Ancestry why not try FMP with credits to see if it has got what you want

Hi Folks

Can I have your views on the pros and cons of which you consider to be the most helpful for a mere amateur like myself.

The reason for my question is my Ancestry sub ends in Jan and I was thinking
that before I renew I would seek your help and advice...!!

Many thanks

Tom
